Got the empeg player 2day and Guess what Mr Pc won't talk to it any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong..at the momemt i'm using the USB port but have tried the serial port aswell no joy on either!!

Are they the MK1 MStation or MK2, there are plenty of MK1`s on ebay for about £200.00

so long as the Empeg has power (it can be on standby or actually on), it should just appear in the Emplode "select player" box when you open it. One thing you may have to do is enable USB transfer. When the select player box comes up when you run Emplode, click on the options button and make sure that "Universal Serial Bus" is ticked. You can untick the rest if you dont plan on using them (you can change these at any time later).

Got it working just after my post..i recently

rebuilt the PC and for some reason the system

didn't find the USB port!!

Anyway its working now and its the mutts those graphics are well cool.

How easy is it to add new software/images etc

to the system or do you have to hack in to the kernel.

If its hassel to explain could you send us an e-mail with your Tel no as it might be easier to explain stuff on the phone.

Do either the Empeg or M-station have internal power amps or do they need external amps?

Yes mate you need an amp for the riocar unless your ice has a line-in, can't speak for the m-station never heard of it untill 2day but ain't that allways the way..you buy a piece of kit and then see it half the fricking price some where else!!

but i have to say the empeg player is a blinding bit of kit.looking forward to downloading lots of software and unlocking all those little gems like satnav and speed camera data base etc

Yep, the Empeg needs an external amp.

 

Regarding the speed camera and sat nav stuff on the Empeg; you can do anything with the Empeg since it is basically a Linux laptop. There are actually 2 different projects for Sat Nav on the Empeg. Neither are ready for release but one of them is gaining quite a bit of momentum as it is being developed cooperatively by loads of people off the Empeg forum. Both are enthusiast projects so they may never come to realisation, but I think at least one of these will.

I haven't heard about the speed camera database project in a while actually. I think it has been integrated into one of the sat nav projects. For more details on any projects, do a search on the Empeg BBS (http://empeg.comms.net) and look at the Rio Car entusiasts site (http://www.riocar.org/)

The M Station uses an FM Modulator so will work through your existing head unit. Put me down for 10 M Stations if you can get them for £200.00
