PC Advice for CAD Software??

Hi guys,

Haven't been on here for a while due to life, laundry etc, but thought I'd ask if anyone knows much about PC's??

I've just bought a copy of a CAD package (ProEngineer Wildfire 2.0) and I'm trying to install it, but it keeps hanging saying that I need a network card installed. I've bought and installed a card but I think it requires me to be on a network

A mate of mine said he's sure you can trick Windows XP into thinking it's on a network, but he can't remember how to do it :smw: Incidentally I'm running a fairly up to date version of XP home (only had the PC 3 months) if it helps.

Anyone got any ideas that might help me please??

I got a copy of AutoCAD 2004 if that's any use to you??? I am quite fluent with it, 2D, 3D solids, etc etc.

Let me know if that will help you.

Robert.

Cheers matey,

The unfortunate thing is that I work producing 2D drawings on AutoCAD at the moment and I'm bored stupid. I trained in Product Design and that's what I want to do  I can use Inventor although the copy I have is version 4, and I've got AutoCAD at home. I've seen a fair few jobs needing ProE, so bought the software (£200) and now can't even install it :headvswal

Thanks for the offer though...do you know of any good websites for design jobs by any chance?? :D

hi bob.

you dont need to be on a network, the card is needed for the mac lan address unique to your pb and that card, its part of the softwares requirements.

it is possible that your registry is in need of repair, the best package i sue for my clients is iolo's system mechanic pro 5, this app will fix and clean the registry in seconds, also it will fix most major problems with you pc inc the start up problems most people have..

if you havent spoke to the tech support for your product by phone or e-mail then i suggest you do first also check their website for common problems.

Failing that gimme a nudge and i will send you the above tool and a few other items.. free of charge
