Help - Been caught ages ago for not having tax

Any ideas, received a summons for not having tax on my last car - was about 6 weeks out of date. This happened in July as I was moving house and the first thing I have heard about it is a letter telling me to be in court in February and that the max fine is £1000

Has anyone managed to squirm their way out of this one or are you all good boys and girls..... for good, read sensible, cheaper to buy it than pay the fines !

A very sad person who would rather spend the money on go fast goodies frown.gif

Just plead complete ignorence.

have u taxed ur car now? if so make sure it covers the period when it was spotted without tax. Then send a letter to dvla/ court explaing ur car was of the road (in a repair garage.........)

Then open up MS Word, and write up an invoice from Bob's Car Repairs to urself (who has since closed down) due to the downturn in the economy.....

Send this along with the letter

Sorted. Worked for me!! lol
