Interested to know about what you think of your systems...

Rowan,

My view is that the system is awesome. Being able to dial in the amount of slip means that it doesn't take away from the driving pleasure (and you can always switch it off if you want to). It makes a major difference to progress in the wet if you're in a hurry and also gives far more confidence in any low speed corner.

For another view though, I was chatting to Andy Elephant on Sunday (the guy with the majorly modded car which was in Fast Car a couple of months back) and he really struggles with the system as he finds it bogs down - I think it might be partly because his is a manual and, particularly, with the level of mods he has, he needs to keep the revs very high to keep the big turbos and cams on song. The traction control could well bring the revs down for him. Also, perhaps, he may not have his launch control set ideally for the state of tune of his engine.

My personal view though is that it is a great system.

Your views echo mine as well - given its winter over here I've found low speed stuff in the wet much quicker.. leave some of those 4wd cars pissing into the wind as well! (and high speed for those rare occasions when WTL, will to live, is low) my car is a Manual and I don't find it bogging at all...

With Andy's car theres heaps of settings he should be able to change to get things right, sounds like the %slip to reinstate traction control is way too low...

Hi Rowan,

My personal view is it gives you 100% confidence (perhaps too much), 100% fun in anything less that dry weather. As for the track and dry usage, it's probably good once set up. I ran the track at 5% then 10% - yes - mad - really low beacuse it was less than 24hours old! - and still faired well. I should have ran 20% and tried the same lap with it off.... see you in the bushes... no, seriously, I have yet to compare dry performance with and without TC.

All is not good. I think they should put a warning on the launch control or rename it to launch clutch. unless you have some kind of clutch that perhaps is not invented yet, I feel it's $$$ for pleasure rating is too high.

BTW - Rowan, Sorry, But I decided not to follow through your good TC offer (obviously), as the UK company I originally contacted also gave me fair deal and felt I ought to go with them after speading so much time on the phone etc etc!!!... no hard feelings....

hahahahah so you fried your clutch as well!!!! It took me the sum total of 30mins after getting the system installed to fry the clutch trying out launch control. Suffice to say I'm trying to find the heaviest single plate out (as I can't afford a triple plate)...

I don't actually sell Racelogic Stuff outside of New Zealand so no worries on that one.

Well, I thought I fried it. After launching it slipped a couple of times on the first lap at high revs and then went away. I would assume this indicates my clutch wont go on for a long time now, but now it appears ok. We'll see what happens a!!!

Let me know what clutch you find to be good and what the feel (how heavy) and low rev pull away is like. Anyhow, I guess the real test is time. I think I'll set mine to 3300 revs or something!!! But now I'm too scared to try it. One mistake I made was with the soft and hard fuel cut options. I did set them at 200rpm apart but the hard cut wasn't low enough, also, like you know, 4000rpm on the stock rev counter isn't 4000 real revs, more like 3800/3850 on my AVC-R.

Whatever I'll only go with a main-steam clutch company. Perhaps the next stage of Cyclone clutch up will work for me. The thing is, that it appear to be a trial and error thing with clutches... no long term results. How do the ACT and RPS clutchs compare to the cylone I wonder?
