Should look something like this:

JN1 C Z2 6 A * L X ######

JN1 = Nissan Passenger Vehicle

C = Turbo (R if Non Turbo)

Z2 = Z32 Model

6 = 2+2 (4 if Coupe)

A = Without Airbag (H is Drivers Airbag, D is dual airbags)

* = Should be a digit don't know what it means.

The last letters refer to dates:

L = 1990 Model Year

M = 1991 Model Year

N = 1992 Model Year

P = 1993 Model Year

R = 1994 Model Year

S = 1995 Model Year

T = 1996 Model Year

X = NISSHA Plant

###### = Serial Number

(I think that this may be the production number)

Hope this helps.

Hope the cars coming together mate. Glad to see you're sticking with it.

Hmmm, does a UK VIN have a slightly different format to that of a Jap spec one? My VIN is:

JN1 0 R G Z32 U 0 002601 its a UK TT. The Nissan manual says the following:

JN1 - Nissan Passenger vehicle

0 - Stop gap value (no meaning)

R - Engine type (VG30DE OR VG30DETT)

G - Body Type (2+2 seater)

Z32 - Model

U - Destination (A:Australia, U:Europe)

0 - Stop gap value (no meaning)

xxxxxx - Vehicle Serial Number

Yeah, I think Jap & UK vins are different..

My model number is KRGZ32JASHWE7

And the vin is GCZ32 xxxxxx

But Somehow I doubt my car is 500-odd thousand off the production line given it's manufacture date is 08/89 smile.gif

I should explain that I got that info from Victoria British Catalogue, US company, so as you say, it probably is different.

Hope someone can shed more light.

Mine has a model no of KRGZ32JASHE7 (no W). I wonder what is different about yours to get the W. Mine is an 89 2+2 TT auto, the chassis number is also 500###

Its my guess that the '5' is not part of the serial number. It may be fair to assume that the Japs have only implemented a 5-digit serial number??

Interesting... According to that, mine falls into the 1989 range of 2 seaters!

Hmm.. Interesting smile.gif

I ran mine through S&E Part's chassis check service - same as Usaveauto really.. Came up as 08/89 - so it's gotta be pretty early off the line.. Just wondering exactly how many Zeds had rolled off the production line before mine really smile.gif

If the chassis numbers really do start at 500001 like that aus page says, then it really is one of the first couple of thousand..

Which is kinda cool.. Lol smile.gif

According to that page mine is around no. 800 off the line smile.gif
