hi mate welcome to the site, we are mostly all nuts here. As for your question, some zeds (300zx's) are slick tops which means they dont have targas, some are convertable, the rest like mine are targa (glass roof) and to my knowledge (which is very limited lol) are all glass hope this helps

oh forgot to say check out the rides section of this forum and you will get a better idea of what i mean

oh, I see...thanks. Are the slick tops uncommon? Also would it be hard to have a targa top made with metal pieces so they could be painted to match the car?Like toyota supras.. Im wondering all this because I love targa tops but I dont like how their glass on the 300zx's.

slick tops are uncommon (import only) and also they are as i think short wheel base models. as for getting metal tops made ive never seen it done dont see the point imo (but every one to their own) 300zx's have targas which come in two pieces, i think supras are a one piece item and are called aero top hope this helps

hi there, I have seen somewhere targa panels made of carbon fibre which could be painted

oohh i didnt know that, would be a little bit warm inside when the sun is out i think

I thought they looked bloody awful and like you said too warm in the sun, I love my glass targas cant see why anyone would want to change them.

Why not paint the glass, if you really wanted to mate?! If you use a good glass primer there's no reason why you can't. Or, get some colour matched vinyl to cover the glass (that'll protect it too).

But, in my opinion, whats the point?!? Get a black Zed, then they look the same colour anyway :D ;)

Ive bought a couple of spare targas that I plan to paint the same colour as my car. Then I'll have the choice of glass roof or fake hardtop, not sure how well the glass will take to painting though.

I spose if you was hell bent on colour coding the targas then you could apply vinyl or something? or just get the glass covered by fibre glass and then paint it. IMO this will remove some of the main character of the car tho'?

Suffolk ZX... I love my glass targas cant see why anyone would want to change them.

And I dont like targa tops, in the ZX or any other car for that matter, so I bought a slick top.

Targas/slick tops. Turbos/NA engine. Auto/manual. 2+2/SWB Wot colour???

Personal choices and endless hours of debate. tis wot makes the car and its owners the vibrant bunch we are right here on this forum! :hyper:
