to be fair, you see the weather these guys have to work in, and you really wont grudge them a break when they can mate

What I want to know is why they need to cone off 2 lanes of motorway for 20 miles just so 2 blokes can stick a new signpost or something up :D

Because the bell ends in health and safety will fine the contractor / council if they dont...

 

if you want a real laugh, 2 men walk a distance of 4 miles at the side of a dual carriage way litter picking...they MUST have 5 vehicles following them, all towing a trailor with warning lights and arrows on !!!!!!!!!!!

My other half works on the motorways and major roads and fixes all the lighting and signs and believe me all the traffic management and safety is definately needed. In the last year 2 of his colleagues have been killed due to stupid d*ickhead drivers ploughing through the cones etc and hitting them at over 70mph. This has left 4 children without dads and 2 wives are now widows.

Just a thought for next time your driving along cursing all the cones etc. :D

Tell you what - there's one job I wouldn't want.. and that's working at the side of a motorway.. We all know how many times we've nearly been run off the road by some dozy (or, more likely, sleeping!) driver..

 

Always makes me chuckle when you actually see them putting out the cones though - looks like they're playing chicken with the traffic! Sod that, not if you paid me a million quid :D (well.. maybe for a million..)
