My wifes Citroen Xantia TD 1.9 has started to really struggle when starting and when you finally get it started she briefly chucks out a massive smoke cloud. I know this is normally due to an air filter needing changing but i did this last month along with an oil change. Would this be the injectors or glow plugs needing replacing? Is this an easy job?

Sounds like Glow plugs to me bud!!

check the diesel pump, they begin to pack up and give the symptoms you describe !

Most likley to be a faulty glowpug (or two). Three are easy to get at, one is a bitch.
