Looks a real nice example of Jap import and good price too for year :)

Be nice to see a pic of engine bay though.

smithy

:smash: I would like to see who would paint a spoiler (properly) for £30 though!!!

It does look nice (wolf in sheeps clothing?) Have asked seller to let me know what history/maintenance has been carried out, awaiting reply. Thanks for looking Smithy and Karl. I really dont want to get a dodgy one! So trying to be careful, hope not too cautious! Thought £30 was a bit cheap to spray spoiler, more like 80 but not too fussed about that, if that really is all that is wrong with it. Wonder if anyone has old copies of Max Power magazine it was meant to be in in 2003?? Am a new member guys and have never owned a Z before so excuse me not knowing much about these lovely beasts! Once I get my hands on one of my own will get up to speed! :)

i like the colour bit sceptical when they say things liek 330bhp i see no evidence of any perfomance mods, other than that drivers seat is a common fault on 70-80% of zeds and tatty OEM spoilers

Loks nice, as Smithy said, would have liked to see the engine. If you are going to have a look at it, see if one of the local lads from here will come with you, always an idea to take someone with a bit of knowledge.

Could be a dealer, as he has a mx5 for sale aswell, but there nothing wrong with a good dealer

They say it's four wheel drive which it isn't.

Could be a mistake, could be a dealer who just doesn't know the car. Doesn't mean it's a bad car but something to be aware of.

They say the steering wheel tilts too which it doesn't so I guess they haven't driven it far - probably a dealer.

Have sent email asking to look at it on Friday. Good idea Jock to see if someone will come along. Will post a thread later. I noticed t 4wd thought maybe he meant 4ws. Didny have a clue about the steering wheel tilt. Just shows how much I got to learn! lol

I believe he is a dealer as well. Had a look at his feedbacks, he has sold a car before but everyone he has dealt with seems happy enough including the guy who bought the car. Had an email last night which I am a bit concerned about, copied below :

''Hi, i have got the oils changed, spark plug changed 6 months back, tyres changed, got all the mechanics (especially the engine checked by the nissan dealers) and its all in perfect order, cam belt will need replacing by 70,000 although i guess by then you will have the car for year and two and might be selling it of after anjoying all the pleasures of this superb car.

What i will do is track down the service history (all together 12 stamps) majority off it carried out in japan)

i had spent 10,000 pounds on the car just year ago, coz this car was one of the best and unique cars in britain, i get kids, adults and specially chicks asking me, what are is that (coz it looks so different) - specially friday night this magnet never lets me down, forget subru, supra skyliner, this car is a beast and rip them all, i true car to be pround of.... this baby has been sitting in my drive way for the past 6 months, never has it been unspoilled, got it checked by the nissan dealers (and it reached 340bhp easily) although these are are known at 300 bhp (imagine how good this car has been kept).

Any other questions please do ask''

Maybe the 10g is a typo! Have asked what receipts he has so just waiting to see. Be a bargain if all comes back kosher! Something about the email worrries me a little tho. Anyway, will see what comes back. By the way, thanks fellas!

Seems a good car, and agree with all the above comments. But can I add this little bit......

Limited edition (only four of these colours are available in the UK) "Maroon"

Don't agree with this, there are a few of this colour (Cherry Red Pearl), although they are few and far between. I should know. I have one :D

And that ariel is supposed to be working, but it's half way up, so either it doesn't go all the way down, or up??

Oh! And the handbrake is a little high!

Thanks Dave, getting a bit suspect now tho after last 2 emails from the guy after I asked to view on Friday and has he got receipts as follows:

''sorry steve, i dont really keep hold of the recipts... friday... i will be out for the weekend''

'' Steve, i will be on a weekend out and have given the car for respray on the spoiler and might sort out the wear n tear on the seat (as mentioned) you can view the car, any time you prefer? let me know when ? i can only show you the car as i have given all the paper work so i can trace up the japan service history for you ''

Think I should get phone number and speak to him!

Hi Steve,

Firstly, most Nissan main dealers don't have a clue about 300zx's so what they have checked - who knows? They'd probably run a Consult check (diagnostic) which would just show if the ECU is picking up any errors. Nissan dealers would not tell you what BHP it was kicking out!!

The timing belt is changed every 60k or 5 years, so it would be a good idea to see when it was last changed as this can be quite expensive to do.

I'd ask what he spent 10k on? And maybe it's just be but the "magnet" bit of his mail - is that really how to sell a car?

Vijay

Steve, at the current auction price, it's still not a bad bargain, as long as everything is OK with it.

Looking further at the add, I'd say it may have only been imported last month, which isn't a bad thing, but I'd think (as above) he is probably a dealer.

4-Wheel Drive, Air Conditioning, Alarm, Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Stereo, CD Player, Central Locking, Climate Control, Convertible, Cruise Control, Electric Seats, Electric Windows, Power-assisted Steering (PAS), Premium Sound System, Rear Spoiler, Tilt Steering Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Driver Airbag, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Immobiliser, Passenger Airbag, Rear seat belts, Safety Belt Pretensioners

Going through the list of equipment......(above)

It's not 4 wheel drive, but it's 4 wheel steer.

It's not a convertable, but is a T-Top.

It doesn't have a tilt steering wheel.

There isn't a driver air bag, or passenger one either, it's too early a model year for that.

But again, still a nice looking Zed all the same. Even if he makes a 'Bodge' of the spoiler, it wouldn't be a problem to get sorted through the traders on here.

If you manage to sort a viewing of it, post on here in the General section, to see if a member in the sellers local area would be willing to come with you/ meet you there to give it the once over, much better than wasting your time travelling all that way if you're not use to these cars.

HTH and good luck.

Don't know but from what I have heard and the conflicting evidence has been shown, I would walk away unless I was a zed expert who could thoroughly check over the car.

Most of the stuff in his emails and advert seems to be waffle. I agree tho it does 'look' like a good example.

You'll only kick yourself if it turns out to be a dud. Especially as you have these doubts.

Just my opinion

Have now sopoken to the guy. Sounds as young as his advert did! I think that he just doesnt know too much about Z's. Seems he spent a lot of the money on the wheels , suspension and CD. He got it a year ago apparently from a trader who had imported it. He said the Nissan dealership plugged the car in and got his BHP figure from that when they done the diagnostic check, (not sure about that), maybe he got the BHP mixed up with something else. Explained to him about the airbags etc and he is removing them from his ebay ad. He bought the number plate privately after he had got the car. Made a loose arrangement to view on Thursday afternoon, am going to phone him to confirm this. When I asked for the VIN he wasnt phased and is going to txt me it later. He knew what I wanted it for, so I wait now to see if it is forthcoming and then I will do a check on the car. Worth the £30 before I go all the way to Bradford! At least I will be able to see when it was imported and when the reg. was changed etc.

it says in the ad that its owned by a "nissan club member", is that the guy you are buying from or does he mean previous owner was a club member? would of thought they would be a member of this club (300zx.co.uk) or the "other" club (zclub.net).

just another point, the front bumper i think has been resprayed as it doesnt have the grey plastic trim just above the number plate that alot of zeds have (mine does), maybe the car has had a colour change or poss respray of the front? im not saying its a bad car though, looks very tidy (tidier than mine if im honest!).

hope you find what your after any way mate, and happy zedding!

Thanks Gaz, still awaiting the VIN number I asked for earlier today. Car looks nice, but am beginning to worry about the 'honesty' of the sale. Still have an open mind, but not looking good at the moment.

if it doesnt work out theres often people selling their cars in the "cars for sale" section on this site, might be worth checking out? chances are you will get a well looked after example of a zed.

I'm with you there on the 'honesty' thing.

There's just too many mistakes for someone who's driven it for a while.

There's plenty more Zs out there. This could be a good one but remember a bad one is almost worse than no Z at all - they can just cost so much to put right.

My best advice it to pretend to be really naieve when viewing and ask lots of 'silly' questions you really know the answers too - see if he tries to bullsh1t you.

A honest seller won't mind or talk rubbish.

Mmmmm, just found this advert, our seller who has had this car a 'year' bought it in march on ebay!

gonna phone previous owner

Steve,

From this bit of information I would sugest that you walk away from this now. Don't even worry about the bid on eBay, just leave it. This guy has obviously been lieing to you.

Take a nice long look at some of the cars in our For Sale section, at least with members cars you can always look back through the members old posts to see how he's cared for his car and what problems he's had.

Anyway good luck with your search.

I reckon you are right Dave. Gonna phone him and ask him to pull my bid off!

Id phone him and ask him to pull you off !! :headvswal

I have never seen someone talk as much shite about a 300ZX in my life. Especially telling you that 10 grand figure. Someone needs to knock that pikey out.

You will find generally, that the best ZX's are advertised on here mate. Plus you can check their history on here with the search option. Be glad you walked from that one. I reckon you just avoided a shitter

Withdrew my bid after talking to guy on the phone, better to be safe than sorry! Still looking :)

may of been hard  but deffo sounds like the right thing to do mate.
