hi i have just purchased my first zed and i am completely blown away by it apart from the following which hopefully you guys can help me with!!!

1, theres a real annoying beeping sound (like you left the lights on) when i get above 50!!!! can this be re set or turned off?

2,the speedo is out and the place i got the car from said the would convert the speedo to mph for me!!!! all they did was put a 110 mph face on it and when i am doing 30 according to speedo my actual speed is about 50 calibrated by my mates volvo t5 and my sat nav!!! any ideas whats wrong!!?? and whats the best way to convert it to mph mechanicly or via the ecu?

3, how can i check the overdrive is working!? my first auto so a bit lost

many thanks in advance for your help

For the speedo, it sounds like either the Convertor did'nt work, or they just did'nt fit one.

When removing the speed clime (as above) take the clocks out at same time, and check at the back of the clocks for a small black box wired into the unit. Could just be a wire that comes loose if they have fitted it.

If they just fitted a 110mph speed face then it hasn't been converted as such and the odometer will still read in km. You will still have the 180kmh/112mph speed limiter in place (and the annoying warning chime). The good news is that all the speed sensitive stuff eg powersteering and HICAS still works as intended.

Usually they add a convertor box which makes the 180kmh speedo read 180mph (which is adequate- lol !) and the odo should be right. However, this screws up the speed sensitive stuff, which can be a pain.

The real solution is to get a UK speedo and then the ECU remapped to have the speed limiter removed at that point. alternatively, with a bit of ingenuity you ought to be able to convert the speedo to read mph with the change of a resistor in the circuitry. Still need to do the ECU though.

thanks for the rapid replies especially the zorst!!!!! i even turned my stereo on full thanks chunk!! lol i am going to get rid of that chime right now. wheres the best place to get the ecu remapped and whats the approx cost

thanks again

Best way to test Overdrive is to turn it off then boot it, if it doesn't go over 140ishmph it works... but with your Speedo you'd better wait until you get it fixed ;)

A number of people here would be able to help you with the ECU, I am one of them. If/when you subscribe then you'll be able to PM (private message) people and arrange this sort of stuff off forum. It's only £20 and the benefits from trader discounts should soon outweigh that.

what needs remapping LOL he only wants the limiter removed,a safe aftermarket chip like jwt would be ideal

which resistor in the J spec speedo can be changed to make it read in MPH ?? does is also have the odometer reading in MPH or does that still click over in KPH?? does anyone have photos to show where / and how ??

sorry for hijacking the thread ,just never seen the resistor thing mentioned before and im fed up of forking out for convertor units every 6 months or so
