Iv been on this forum recently with a problem with my Z here it is again.

wen i go to work in the morning or take the Z out for a run i probably travel a couple of miles warming the beast when it could just stall without warning.

I have asked before with the same problem and the advice from several club members was the ptu. but the problem with that is the engine has not had time to warm up i have only had the Z for about 4 weeks so i am very new to this game would a conzult detect the problem or has any member had any similar problem i have got 91 auto non turbo. Please help

seen a similar problem on a mates 300zx tt, it turned out to be the air flow meter (afm).

It does not always show up a fault code when faulty- it is still working but sending incorrect voltage to ecu.

best bet is to find someone near with a Z and swap afms only takes 10 min to change tt and na use the same afm

....I have asked before with the same problem and the advice from several club members was the ptu. but the problem with that is the engine has not had time to warm up ...

But the thing here is that if the heat has already damaged it, then there could be dry joints, etc, within the unit causing problems before it gets warm!

Just a thought, would also agree with the AFM idea as well.

see below

If its not the afm, Have a look on Andy Ps site from the links above, theres some good helpful stuff on there, it gives quite a few things to consider.

...is it like not having the choke on? Remember the old days when you had to pull the choke out to get the car to run - untill it was warmed up? Could be the same, but it's an airflow device at the back top of the engine.

The can get oiled-up and stop performing - or there's no electrical signal too it.

Bugger to remove but easy to sort (was out with WD 40) once it's in your hands. Electrics easy to check too as you can see it working once connected.

Good luck, and appologies if I'm totally wrong...

Jack

Cheers Guys to all, ill have these tips investigated :xxx:
