have been thinking of importing one of these (yes......still keeping the zed though). you can pick them up quite cheap from jap auctions.

my mate has this week collected his celica, 94 model with only 41k on the clock, it has the original jap paperwork to back it up. it was graded as a 4 rating, and TBH i have never seen a car so mechanically clean and tidy that hasnt just rolled off a production line!!!! :bow:

so if this standard is anything to judge by hopefully i will be able to get in a very clean example.

............dont much about them though mate! (maybe should do before buying one!!!!!!!!!!)

Bets mods are a rag and match in the fuel tank mate lol

What???

The Fto is a lovely car!! I used to have one and would own another one no problems. The mivec is the one to go for and once an induction kit is fitted the noise is unbelievable especially when the Mivec kicks in between 6.5k and 9k rpm:D , best sound i have heard. Not to sure as to what problems to look out for so no help there mate sorry, I am sure there is a guide on the FTO owners club site and they are a helpful bunch.

I think these are lovely looking cars and sound great reasonably quick 6 and a bit to 60mph just a shame it is FWD.

Cheers.

ROFL - Class :rofl:

Hope you can make it to JAE to collect your award, Mr Turbot!! :D

My Mum drives one (not the Mivec tho :() and it just keeps going! She's had it three years and the only fault she's had was a dodgy alternator. Undersealing was recommended to her by the FTOOC, which she duly did and has no problems since. Totally stock though. I keep trying to get her to mod it (she is quite a petrol head for a lady nearing sixty!) but no luck so far.

Nice little car - I used to think it was quick, but I drove it again for the first time since I've owned a Z, and I thought there was something wrong with it 'cos it felt so slow to me now!! :D

FTO = Fresh Touring Origination

GTO = Great big phat Touring Obeseityination

MIVEC = Mitsi Innovative Valve Electronic Control and Lift

GPX Mivec is the only one to have the rest are pants IMO oh and most go for the manual as opposed to the tiptronic but if I was gonna have one I'd go for the tiptronic as I'm a lazy f\/cker! ;)

They do a controler for the valve timing to bring the power band down to sub 6.5K revs. There is a turbo kit for them or is it a supercharger kit. might even be both. Now where did I put my pipe and slippers am sure they where round here. Hang on, Am I on the way to the toilet or have I just been. :confused: :confused: :D

stay away from tiptronic , exspensive repairs, my mat e had one,, also alternator frequently goes wrong, me mate had 2 of them in one year! nice styling though for the money , bit like a mini zed,
