Hi folks. I have just been informed that the CD manual that I have made available actually belongs to "petrolheads NW"

 

I would like to say sorry to Dave and promise him that the link will not be posted anymore. I had no idea that this was the case and just thought that I was doing fellow members a favour.

I didn't realise that Petrolheads NW actually owned the copyright / owners rights on this CD.

 

If I had known this I wouldn't have downloaded it and I am sure Vini wouldn't have put up the CD so people can download it.

 

How did you manage to get the copyright on this CD then?

I wasn't aware that their was an authorised distribution of this CD? and even if there is it will be owned by Nissan unless someone has their written consent to be the sole distributor for the content.

I thought this was in the public domain? Well it certainly seems that way. You can pick the same CD up from anywhere on the net ....

As explained to viniboy, the workshop manual is not our property by all means but the extra content is. I have also told Viniboy that there is a PD copy of the actual manual on the 300 site. I have ask Viniboy not to distribute our CD freely.

can you tell me what stuff of yours on there is copywritten? I would like to remove it so I can make a copy for a freind

I thought you could only copywrite your own material, not that you copied and compiled for/on others behalf..The original owner has title unless sold on....

Nissan UK would have a good case here if they wanted to bother but anyone else....dont think so.

By the way I have not seen any of the top quality videos or manual, nor could I provide a copy of the CD to anyone with the manual.......

The CD i have is a scanned version and put in PDF and i'm sure someone at a nissan garage hasnt been ripping the pages out the manual and scanning them so unless there is an official nissan CD rom then there is no such copyright on the CD and like splatt says most of the extras on the cd's are copied video clips etc.
