-JWT ECU & HKSEVC B/C Install-

Dudes!

I just bought a JWT ECU and HKS Boost Controller and frankly I am bit a lost!

I know I can just socket the ECU and put the chip in, its mapped for the vg30dett Manual with Intake and Exhaust that is my car, the boost contraption is another matter, apparently according to HKS Europe website "Any time the display shows a flashing L turn knob to left"!! now I cannot understand why my Knob has to be pointing north, south or bloody towards the moon smile.gif!!

Seriously it all looks a tad complex, I'd love to have a crack at fitting it as my car is soon to be garaged for the winter anyways.

Is it a bugger of a job or could a person with time and patience and a big hammer get it installed?? Has anyone here installed a HKS EVC before and did their car blow up afterwards LOL?

What I could really do with is a site that explained (or a person hehe) exactly what it actually does:

Does it over-ride safety boost situations? and if detonation does occur (I know my knock sensor works ok) who wins the safety boost argument HKS or ECU?

I have a full GReddy exhaust - would I have Exhaust Gas Temp sensors on it or are they by-passed?

Can I just switch the thing off when it is installed and return to ECU controlled boost?

One last thing (this proves how little I know) - whereabouts are the boost solenoids on the TT, as Aaron said to me a while back he thought it possible mine had been disconnected in the past and I could do with checking that anyway for curiousity sakes smile.gif

Sorry to waffle all this techie shite on a Sunday eve but its about time I leart what all these bloody gismos do !

Ta geeZers

Senna the boost controller will win over the knock sensor, what you do need to do is set up the warning devise on the controller first of.

Give yourself a safty setting ie i set mine to 1 bar, then you can have the unit dial back the boost if you get to that point.

the HKS unit allows you to lock the boost from the back so you dont overboost.

I believ to set those units up you have to run in third gear from 3000 to cut out and back ? (not sure if that is true)

Thanks Warren, yeah it says in the instructions about setting up the Learn modes and stuff, did you fit your Controller yourself or farm out the job to someone else... perhaps *cough splutter* SE?

Looks a little technical for the un-initiated with all those pipes and wires, I wonder if Jeff wants a free weekend stay on the sunny isle of wight hehe smile.gif

I farmed mine out and it is the blizt unit, but have seen numerous HKS ones going in at xoticar.

I unfortunalty dont have the space to do my own bits and bobs.

Glen you looney,

Have you gone insane in the membrane? Haven't you got the most Bat Mobile monster there is going? You have to mess with it more?

Something tells me that the RR day would've been a tad different if some of the REAL Z's had turned up! E.G. Iain and Glens cars or even Johnny with his beast.

You guys stay in the shadows too much, unleash your presence on us and show us what real Z's are capable of. Plus it would keep me out of the nut house! LMFAO biggrin.gif

We need to get a pukka meet together that would mean everyone turning up instead of just a few people who make excuses like..."Sorry but I need to get the milk off the door step!" etc.
