Got my block back after having a rebore, started to assemble it this morn! all went well untill it come to fitting the pistons! all six compression rings are to tight in the bore and dont match up to the tolerance given, so I have got to have them ground! to top it all off there is an oil scraper ring missing

This rebuild has been one big pain in the arse, just gets me thinking why I have put myself in this position for less than 14 seconds of fun

Will be worth it eventually :D

Sounds like the parts are not those listed for that spec or the bore is off....

bits missing...id have words with your parts supplier and engine borer as getting bits ground to fit sounds a bit bodge mate after spending this much money.

Hope you get it sorted :duffer:

It may be less than 14 seconds, but how many times will you get to use that opportunity ? ;)

I have emailed the supplier about the piston rings, so should have that sorted the only prob they are in america, grinding the rings is the only way around it my dad said there is a special tool that will do this I did'nt mean an angle grinder :)

I've just got to press on with it I guess, its the summer days when I want it back

If you need a hand with anything mate, just shout, only just rebuilt mine with new rings.

Cheers,

Mathew

Thanks mate ;)

how much does it cost to do your own rebuild ie parts and what do you need, im thinking about doing mine

lots and lots of crates of stella mate LOL

Depends on how far you want to go with it ...

I would if I could afford it.

;)

unfortunatly its not a would but a must as one of my turbo seals has gone, so if ive got to take out engine may aswell rebuild aswell. going to try and drop engine on mounts enough to get at turbos before i take it out, got a good mechanic with little hands to do the job lol. cant really do without my stella for to long lol :duffer:

Dont do it mate thats all I can say!

There is no end to the bits you will need and when you get them that wont go on because another bit is missing :headvswal if you can pay some one else :)

lol mate...yer...not the angle grinder please

no really...if its a complete rebuild..rebore and new rings n pistons please dont settle for a grind  :D ...it may work for a few thousand miles but after that???...who knows...back to square one again but loadsa Zedtonions down

Get a machinist to check your bore out and the rings to see whats going on...something bit fishy there mate...

I by noway know anything about these Zed blocks but have done plenty of 2-stroke engines (motoX & Kart) and even a six cylinder beemer...

If theres any slight mismatch its just a matter of time....

Dont wanna put the woolys up yer mate...just dont wanna see ya loose out

Wish u well....let us know what you find out
