Flappy clutch pedal

Hi people!!

Bit off a odd question but i hate havin loose pedals at my feet! On mine when u push the clutch the first two inches it feels very flappy for a lack of a better word, but the rest of the travel is fine! She does have 89k on her, is there any way of making it more firm for those first two inches!!

Cheers guys!!!!! :)

sounds like u got some air in there check for leaks then try bleedin her up if its no better could be a dodgy slave/master

ahh some body who has the same problem as me i hate it cos i like a nice short throw clutch pedal ... this is a pian as the first inch n half dont do zip ill try bleeding it out i think as ive checked the linkage to the booster etc and all seems fine just this poxy free play in the pedal

It could be the clutch gremlin, he is located as in pic below.

He usually puts pressure on the clutch to provide a stiffer better feeling pedal, you need to feed him every 10k miles, it's something that was missed out on the owners manual by nissan, so they can sometimes starve. AFAK you can not replace them once they are gone as they are very hard to source.

If you can not see him under your bonnet, it's more than likely he has gone, or you could try making a noise like a cheese sandwich to see if it attracts him.

If you look under the dash at the pedal you'll see a couple of switches that can be adjusted in and out to alter the play in the pedal.

There's the same setup on the brake for the brake light switch.

If this doesn't do it the you might have to bleed the system.

i got the same thing on mine!

had car converted to manual back in jan, maybe it justs need bleeding as some suggest..........is this easy to do?

yeah fairly can be a pain to get all the air out there should be two bleed nipples 1 on the drivers wing and one on the slave cylinder (~some have a third on the master) just bleed it the same as you would yer brakes need 2 people though if yer not usin 1 of the bleed kits

dont do as i did an try to bleed her up facing down a hill. passed a litre of oil through her hardly any clutch turned her round bang done in 5 mins :)
