Hey everyone, this is one of my first threads, so bear with me.

Im stationed in Italy and they don't have a clue what they're looking at when they look at my car. I drove it to venice the other day (approx. 100km) and towards the end of the trip, the turbos started to whisstle really loud and then it sounded like an explosion from the front of the car and immediatly i had a loss in power. The car still idled ok and the temp was ok for a while. It finally died on me, since you can't pull off to the shoulder of the Autostrada, I had to start up and drive it off. It started up fine, so i drove it off of the first exit. Then the temp skyrocketed to the H mark in which I immeditaly shut the car off and pulled over. I raised the hood and there was coolant everywhere, it looked like it blew coolant out of the cap. I waited til the car was cooled down to remove the cap, I then refilled the radiator and replaced the cap. I started the car up again to see if it would overheat again, but it didn't until I drove it about 6km, then the temp needle skyrocketed again so i pulled off again, raised the hood again. This time there was coolant all underneth the left front corner of the car, I'm pretty sure that the radiator catch tank overflowed. What could this problem be other than the thermostat, in addition to the turbos problably being blown?? Any information would be greatly appriciated.

I've only had one experience with overheating, and I reckon I hadn't replaced the rad cap properly after a top-up. Sounded similar to your first example- coolant everywhere around the cap. Took me a surprisingly long time to realise I was overheating too :headvswal

Did you definitely fill the coolant tip-top and put the rad cap back on properly when you refilled? The stock caps have a reputation for not fitting well...

I'm trying to think of non-expensive things that could have caused it all! Hope you get it sorted out matey, and there'll be plenty of people with the know-how on here to help :)

You will need to get the cooling system Pressure tested just to make sure you have no leaks!!!

If you have a leak some where the system boil's up as it cant hold its pressure to prevent the lowering of the coolant boiling point hence it seem's to through coolant out of the Expansion Tank...

Could be a number of Things and you may have also had an airlock after you refilled the cooling system!! Very common on these Zed's...

Like i said to be safe Get a pressure test done and you should find where the problem is (anything from a smail leak to Headgasket Failier) and as above have your Cap pressure tested too to make sure its sealing correctly and the spring is holding the correct pressure... :)
