I went to the meet at the Ace Cafe on the North Circular in London last night and stayed until about 8.30.

There were two other Z's there - Danny (CBR I Believe) and a red one too.

Danny's was nice - Mania 19's, wing, re-trim etc (actually it reminded me of Geoff's car)

The red one is the reason why our cars are worth fook all IMO. I don't think I have ever seen a dirtier engine bay in my life - and believe me I've owned some shitters in my life !! If you are going to take your car to a show at least have some pride in it and wash it !!

If you are on this forum I must say that I'm delighted you own one but I don't understand the lack of appreciation of it. Maybe I'm wrong and missing the point altogether - if so I'm sorry.

When you see all the MR2s, FTOs, Civics, Skylines etc gleaming and polished and looking brilliant anyone visiting the show/meet would think "300ZX" and "scruffy" in the same thought.......and thus the values fall even further.

I'm not talking about spending fortunes on mod's etc just basic maintenance and cleaning.

Sorry for the rant guys...........oh and if anyone knows the guy with the dark red Skyline GTS with GTR engine etc - top bloke. Met him at Bolney and again last night. Nice car too !!!

I wont even drive mine to the local shop unless its clean :D ...the water bill in my house has risen since purchasing the zed

Unfortunatly some people, me myself are far too busy to be continualy washing cars. Mines always filthy even 10 mins after washing it. Thats why its name is Pledge. But my Engine Bay is SPOTLESS

mine's white which doesnt help ("keeping it clean" before you say anything else  ). think its running a little rich thus the rear end gets covered in black dust

Mine too is a daily driver and has to be driven thru dirty country lanes, so spends most of its time dirty. Though if i was going to take it to a meet it would be washed first.

All valid replies guys but I'm talking about a car which has probably NEVER had the engine bay even wiped over with a damp cloth ! There had been a coolant leak of some sort that had sprayed the bay but was obviously such an historic event that it was permanent !!

A shame :nono: as these cars are so great they should be treated as such.....

I totaly agree,

I use mine every day, in winter going down the motorway everyday there's not much chance of perfection, but I wash and polish every weekend, in fact theres occasions when I,ve walked to the shop in the rain on a saturday night, cause the cars just been polished and put in the garage.

Go to a show with a dirty car?, no chance!

Agreed. Mine gets dirty but I wouldn't see any point in taking it to a show that way. Black is as bad as white for showing up the dirt - if it's not bright and shiny it looks rubbish. So what do you guys use for keeping the engine bay clean more than just a quick wipe over?

I was there last night aswell.........and there were 2 red Zeds

One parked inside the cafe car park and one on the road........

Which one are you on about?

The one outside was just washed before it was bought to the meet........the other red Zed was bought recently by a chap who informed me he had a water leak and was looking to get it fixed.......... shit happens but go easy on the guy........hes a new Zed owner

Have to say though was a good turn out..........got to meet CBR and Jon Jon and a previous Zed owner who i met a year previously and all were top people

Hope to meet more of you soon

JK matey ;)

my engine bay is quite filthy, my car is however meticulously serviced, its usually dirty as its a daily driver and i'm quite lazy,

problem is, my engine can't be cleaned unless i strip the whole damn thing, something that may come soon though

you call that an engine lol hahahahhaahh ;)

To be honest a clean / blingy engine bay has never been a priority for me.

I give it a wipe with a light oil to keep things corrosion free but I'd be nervous washing under there with water - might do more harm than good???

mine still needs loads of work but this is it so far
