fuel pressure check valve??

Does anybody know where the check valve is, or is it attached to the fuel pump,I've had a look at the disc manual and can't find it

Read your other post too.. From what I've read (mostly off TTnet) the usual cause of dropping fuel pressure when the ign. is off is a leaky injector..

I would have thought the only thing that served as a check valve on our cars is the fuel regulator.

I thought about the injectors but I clamped off the supply to the engine and the pressure still drops off rapid no difference, so it's unlikely the engine side of it. hence the question about the check valve.

I guess if you clamped it off at the fuel filter say, then the check valve must be in the fuel pump..

Ooh.. hangon.. a thought

When you stop to fill, and you open the fuel cap, do you get a real loud "hisssssssss", or a little hiss/nothing?

If you stop, watch the pressure hit zero and open the gascap, no hiss?

The fuel tank is supposed to remain pressurised AFAIK, and I have heard of fautly fuel caps not holding pressure...

thanks I'll go and give it a try will let you know the result.

now then I checked the pressure(fitted a permanent gauge in line) it was at zero ..released the cap on tank and no pressure exhausted.although I have noticed on a longer journey in the past there has been pressure.

by the way, I have noticed that when at zero pressure and turn ign on the 5 sec priming still doesnt get up to pressure only after flicking the starter several times.

any suggestions???

Hmm... I'm thinking... I dunno frown.gif

When you had the guage in the return line - you had the regulator connected yep?

I guess I'm wondering about that regulator.. Don't spose there is someone near you that you can swop with? (Not an easy thing, I know!)

Failing that, give us a couple of weeks and I'll post you my old one (when the new one turns up from the states).. Worth a try you reckon?

PS, my gas cap *always* released fuel pressure... but that could be misleading in this case...

Something else I've noticed which I dont know is standard or not. but after being on a run say 30miles the fuel filter is boiling when the car has been stood still, but when started it is cooled down, its like heat transfer from the engine.

also I have rechecked thepressure when after a run and it seems to be holding pressure for now. must mainly loose it when cold.
