What we really need is a list of insurers with a summary of what they will and won't cover. There's nothing more frustrating than spending 20mins holding or describing your details only to learn that they won't quote for an import, or a modified car, or a classic that isn't in a garage, or a classic that isn't a seciond car!!!!!!

Is there an INDEPENDENT broker out there who can search through all the affiliated shites, I mean sites! to get me a proper deal!!!!

I Think this is very much needed too as the insurance the club uses has changed all there polices and i don't think they are that cheep any more, even tesco's beet them for me

chris

many won't do modded cars - those I knwo who will are Adrian Flux, Liverpool Victoria.

I agree with Nigel, ibeen callin around insurance companies and have become confused, i say to them i want a quote on both 3rd party only and 3rd party fire/theft so they say yea ok, now when it gets to the question of what security the car has i say none but then they say but you have to have an alarm/immobiliser sir, i say but surely i dont need it on 3rd party only cos i wouldn't be insured for theft if the car got nicked anyway...........but you still need it sir........oh b011ox forget it then and i put the phone down.

What is all that about? do they have a friggin clue what they are on about? also when i finally get a quote on 3rd party only it works out dearer than TPFT........go figure that one.

Anyway i got it down to £555 paid straight off or £608 paying monthly.

Fairlady Import - 1992 - non turbo.

age 26 - 6 years no claims - 6 points on licence.

garaged.

I'm having a real nightmare with it, trying to sort classic cover for the zed (is it garaged !!!wtf- no I want to DRIVE it!) and fully comp for the new daily drive. I've spoken to dozens of timewasting gits who don't do imports, modified, classics, high performance, groups 19 and 20, business use, (one even told me thay could insure a blue M5 but not a black or red one !!!!)

The world is going mad and I just want to drive fast!

What you actually need is a really good broker - they're supposed to do all that stuff for you.

i think this is a great idea - something like a table with categories like: under 25, under 28, under 30, import, light mods, heavy mods, etc., along the top, and down the side list as many insurance companies as we can get info on. Like my recent thread says I was pulling my hair out sifting through which companies were worth calling and which I could skip out. perhaps we could get the basic info from their websites, or from member's experience. I would be more than willing to set up such a table if it helps other people get decent insurance without taking 10 years off their life expectancy!

the problem with a section like this is insurance companys are tw*ts. u would still be ringing them all because every qoute is different, what is good for someone will be bad for someone else

For everyone that has had a good insurance qoute they will post it on the forum

There is 4000 and something people in the club thats a lot of insurance companys that have been rung

So at the end of the day there will be more insurance companys on the forum than in your local phone book

Sorry for the negative reply but i posted a similar thread about speed camera sites and got a similar reply. And when u think about that negative reply u say yes i agree it would be a bad idea (or so i thought) P.S not trying to p*ss anyone off

Wrong

Liverpool and Victoria do NOT touch modified cars  not anymore
