Hi

After fitting the speedo chrome dial rings, I had to re-attach a switch that was put on my cluster to operate the rear foglight (attached for SVA purposes). But as I was trying to get the order of the wires right, all my lights stopped working expect for the main beam. :headvswal

The side lights, rear lights, instrument lights, front fogs, headlights all are gone. It just switches on the main beam when I turn on the headlights.

I've looked at the fuses under the bonnet and they seem fine, could it be one of the relays? If so where do i get them? Is there anything else i can check?

Thanks in advance.

had the same myself, it was the wire going into the switch for your side and dipped lights not connected, this stopped all but main beam working, i connected wire from one side to other to bypass the plug just for that circuit, all cured :hyper:

Thanks I'll check the fusebox in the footwell, but CaseyJ, I'm not too sure which wire you mean, can you clarify, i'll try and check all the wires anyway.

Thanks

sonix,

What you have done is refitted the fog light cables incorrectly to the switch and the fuse to the side lights has blown (shorted), there is a fail safe built in to the wiring which means main beam will activate when this fuse has gone as "get you home lights"

The fuse is located in the drivers footwell by the accelerator pedal, the fuse layout is is in four / five tiers you need to replace the one located top row third from the left, this will be the blown one.

However before replacing it you need to clear the fault, disconnect the fog light switch, there should be 3 cables one is the earth one is the live (+12v) from the side lights circuit and one is the switched output to the fog lights. You need to identify each one using a meter and identify the switch layout too.

Once that is sorted ( or left safely diconnected) should the fuse be replaced.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the help, changed the fuse (was a bugger to get to) and lights work fine. Unfortunately I now have another problem... but that's for another thread.

Thanks Again.
