My standard brakes work great but if i need to stop quickly and push my foot down on the pedal quick i here a high pitched squeak come from the front , it then disapears after that first squeak? has anybody had this happen to them or can anybody help??

Funny. I noticed exactly the same thing the other day but only if I stand on the pedal fairly hard. Anybody knows why this happens I'd be pleased to hear as well.

Thanks,

Bart

how bloody unhelpfull am i.

sorry mate you ask a propper question, the last thing you need is me turning up after the pub with a fantastic idea that may or may not help (most likely not)

LOL. Yeah, I'm on standard disks and pads. Thinking I'll upgrade at some point (i.e. when these ones wear out). Where's the best place to get Brembo kit from? And actually (sorry, this is a bit off topic) with that article somebody posted the other week about how big break kits can screw up your ABS system are there any kits out there that will work OK with the ZX ABS? What I don't want to do is ditch it entirely because I'm not going for the out and out race car thing.

Thanks,

Bart

I think you'll find this noise comes from the footwell, not the wheels.

As far as i know it happens on alot of zeds, mine does it upon first press hard press of the brake pedal, my guess is that theres some sory of valve/ servo/ regulator down there, and it makes that noise as it gets the fluid pressure up.

Im sure one of the techies should know the real names and reasons for this.

Thanks b19rks. Like speedomon said: glad I'm not the only one who gets this. I'm assuming it's not a major issue in that case. Right then, suns gone in a bit so I'm going out to wash and polish the thing (again - I never thought I'd be the kind of guy who cleans his car on a weekly basis but needs must).

Cheers,

Bart

I had some twat pull out on me last wednesday and I had to hit the brakes well hard. The engine cut out? I have since had the fluid replaced and the problem has gone. Never heard the brakes squeek tho. I am thinking of changing to EBC red brakes. Have been told they are the B00ll0x? any one know if this is true?

They are good but i dont know if they would stop a 205mph car

I have EBC redstuff brake pads and they are SHOCKINGLY BAD, especially when cold. Once they have warmed up a bit they are OK ish. I would go for a nice set of Poterfield pads from Smithy. Can't wait for mine to run down.

Back on topic, my brakes squeal when hit hard .. really strange. Coppersliped right up to the max. I dont have standard disks though so who knows ...

:nono: Now now.......... :nono: brakes on.

Squeek could be from the ABS unit located at the drivers side front of the car. When the car is stationary after a run try applying pressure to the break pedal and seeing if it makes the high pitched squeek. If it does it could just be a bit of dust in the unit and it may go away. If not, it's on the way out and are bloody expensive to replace!! On the subject of pads, Mintex Carbon Metallic ones are brilliant. Work well from cold too. Avoid EBC green, red and yellow stuff, cause they won't slow you down quick enough!!

Thanks Jon, I'm going to try that later. If that's what it is (and I'm pretty certain you're spot on) I'll get it back in for some warranty work because I don't want to have to fork out for a new ABS unit.

Thanks,

Bart
