For an auto, remove the starter motor, and get someone to hold a screwdriver between the gearbox housing and the flywheel teeth - this will stop the crank from rotating when undoing the crank bolt.

(If it was a manual, you'd just stick in in 5th gear)

Easier way is to put on a 27 mm socket and strong rachet, slip over the ratchet handle a samml pipe or the support upright off an axle stand, them rotate the cranks tec untill the bar is jammed against the floor on the right hand side as you look at it.

Now flick the key once or twice, works every time on a stubborn bolt.

I was advised very strongly NOT to do this when removed mine, as you run a very high risk of smashing the park gears.

I stand corrected if you know better.

Personally id remove the starter motor is a 10 min job.
