doh!!!

 

my zed has been smoking after i have done all the valve stem oil seals, i spoke to a nissan mechanic 2day and i told him how i went about doing the oil seals in situ,

 

he did say i might have hammerd the valve stem oil seals too hard down and that, they have deformed and not sealing properly??

 

i do remember hammering them down well, and didnt stop till they were pinging!!

 

ws i at fault to do this, do i have to do all the seals again ffs!!!

 

any help much appreceated!!

I was going to fit mine untill my dad told me there was a special tool to fit them which I had to get the garage do

yeah i made a tool at work but i hammerd them down too hard, maybe the tool nissan use has a stop on the base to stop them being banged down too hard??

can anyone tell me if it is possible to hammer them home to hard???

normally if you hammer them down too hard they distort or go on the piss or even the little spring around the seal pops off, leaving a loose fit on valve, but u can usually see them from the top to see if they are fitted ok
