Hi there folks and 300 ZX´s enthusiasts!! :)

I would like to get some suggestions and advices of course also make some new friends here;

ok I will be in the up coming months moving to the Uk ,that will be Luton;

currently I live in Mallorca; I been planning to buy my 300zx here in Spain but since I´m gonna be moving to Luton I´d rather wait and get the car in the Uk; there is quite some confusions I have about it; first what is MOT? and SVA? then I heard of so many importers to buy the car eventhough most folks have suggested me to try Bonsai and newera, last one really didn´t like awful customer service; I really want to go slow on choosing the right model; since I am looking for a 2seater, aka, the US model; when I was in Luton last week this guy who had one told me; If I was you I would try to buy the car in mainland and not imported since you want to check how the car is before you buy it; its always a risk to import a car without seeing it first, he does have a point; but are these importers company trustable? did anyone bought their ZX though them?

also what is the cheapest insurance quote I can get on the car? I been insurance here in spain since 1993 so I have like bonus 50% on my actual car; what would you guys recommend me for example; norwichunion? is it hard to get the 2 seater? I would really love the 2 seater; also if there´s anyone from Luton please hit back on me, would really like to make some friends there since Imma be living there:) :smash: :smash:

Thank you guys/girls for reading my thread! and it will be a pleasure to live abroad in the Uk!

Welcome :)

Mot - A Yearly test done on all cars 4 years and older. Its basically a yearly Safety check.

SVA - A more thourough test thats required on all Imported cars that less than 10 years old.

If you want to get a fresh import, there are plenty of reputable importers, and plenty of unreputable importers. However there are plenty of Zeds to choose from already in the country for sale.

The SWB (2 seater) is rarer, but you should'nt have too much trouble getting hold of the right one.

Insurance ranges immensely, and there are hundreds of insurance companies to choose from. Expect to pay anything from £200 - £2000 a year, depending on many circumstances (age probably being the most important).

I appreciate yur info my buddie!!

Hang on a minute you live in sunny Mallorca Island of sea sand and sleepy afternoons and you're moving to Luton?????????????

2 seaters are rare i would love a twin turbo 2 seater but never found one!!!!

Insurance as Legrath says does vary on your age how long you've had a liscence a man/woman driver and your postcode also if you own a garage or it's parked on a private road at night....i pay £500 a year fully comp but for a group 20 car it ain't too bad also if it has Cat 1 alarm......

Oh yes and red ones are the fastest the paint is actually lighter and creates more air flow over the contours of the car giving less drag ;o)

Best advice is to visit this site regularly and buy one of the ones owned by a member of this forum You then can search back through that persons previous posts to see what has gone wrong with it in the past, and you will also know that any work on it has been done properly.

Hope you enjoy your stay in sunny Luton!! ;)

Hi

regarding your quest for a good insurance quote.

yesterday I called BELL DIRECT on 0800 140 180, got quoted for a 91' 300ZX non turbo worth £3,500. and driving 10,000 miles PA. extras included Alloys, Exhaust & Minor engine mods. (*THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE WITH ORIGINAL PARTS so if ur £4000 alloys got lifted they will give you the standard factory fitted alloy's back :hurl: )

I'm 23 with 4 yrs NCB, live in central Hampshire, park on drive, Thatcham Cat1, 10K miles, Car worth £3,500 Annual Premium = £818.00
