Fitted a new door/targa seal?

I'm fitting a new drivers door/targa seal and have found that a black tarry/glue type stuff is used to help the seal right on the corner of the targa and windscreen pillar. Anyone know where you can buy this stuff or something similar to it? :confused:

    Been to halfrauds and dont know if its just the Chester branch but they had naff all to seal windscreens etc. Got some stuff from my dad which was perfect until I found it had all gone off in the tube!!!!!!!
