When I left the UK in Dec 03, I expected to be back in no short order, so I put the Z in storage. Unfortunately, career wise it all went downhill from there, my employer was sold, I was retrenched and my work permit is lost, so I can never return to live and work in the UK.

But what of the Z? I am coming back in July to get it out of storage, and do one last tour of the UK before exporting it to Australia. Obviously, I need MOT, Tax disc and insurance and all is being arranged by the guys storing it (free plug to Matt of Elite Auto Storage - a good guy and a great service).

Unfortunately, if my memory serves me right, the tyres might not pass the MOT. I would be happy enough to put some new ones on and bring them over here, but I have now discovered a special import rule for cars coming into Australia. No matter what age, size, shape or condition the tyres are in, all imported vehicles must have their existing tyres junked immediately on entry to the country and new Australian ones fitted!! Full stop, no exceptions. Perhaps the fear is embedded foot & mouth or whatever.

So my dilemma is this, if it turns out I need tyres for the MOT, fitting a new set to drive around on for a maximum of two weeks before throwing them away is financial madness. Therefore I am asking club members if one of you might have a set of TT ZX wheels with passable tyres that I might be able to work out a deal to borrow for a couple of weeks in July.

Can anyone out there help, or offer a suggestion?

I have a set barry with rims for £100. up to you mate. But they have enough tread on em to go through 3 MOT. will take some pics iff it stops raining.

no idea about courir charges as im in essex. pics avail if you need to see.

Sounds good - I'll come back to you once the MOT verdict is in. I assume they are the usual TT wheels, not the NA ones, not that it matters all that much.

The car is at Stanstead - I think the logistics could be worked out without too much drama.

Not raining here - 25 dec C and beautiful. The rain better be gone by July, I want to take the tops off and go cruising in a way that none of the dorks in their silly Skylines and WRXs will ever understand.

Regards
