chips / limiter

mine is a 90 jap and wont go any faster than about 120.

I am planning on intake kit, gutted cats or cat back, front and back exhaust, and maybe be having a play around with the boost at sometime (like there's no way I'm going to resist that!)and also will look into plugs, timing etc etc etc.....al in the future.

question: I want to lose the limiter but dont see the point in forking out on a new chip just to do that when I know that the engine is going to need to be managed differently once I start bolting stuff on,so, is there some way of jumping past the limiter without spending a fortune ?

if you go for the JWT CHIP WHICH SEEMS A SAFE AND VERY POPULAR CHIP, it removes the limiter (i think)

thats a good upgrade and shuld solve your problem of going faster than 120 KPH wink.gif

Yep! Call Luke @ ZCenter - he sells delimiters for around £85. Gets rid of the 112mph limit, annoying bell at 62mph, cruise control will now work between 40~112mph, and it changes the odometer readings to miles (as opposed to kilometers). Oh, and it's real easy to fit.

OK, good info, cheers.

Danny, thanks What I am trying to avoid is forking out for a delimiter when I know that at sometime in the future engine mgmt will need to be changed due to mods. SO.....

Warren, if I put the JWT on a standard TT what's it going to do ? Are they prgrammable to suit different levels of modification ? Any idea on cost too ?

JWT are not reprogrammable, they are just a straight plug in chip with a "blanket" program to suit what setup you've got (ie stock injectors/single intake, 555 injectors/single, 555dual, etc) If you're extracting horsepower out of a car then get the LINK plug in Engine Management system which is designed for Zeds so you don't have to rewire anything, and you can get a hand controller to alter fuel/ignition tables.

If you put the JWT chip in it will make the car run with a completely new engine management software which is a good thing. JWT decided to write the software from scratch which is why they charge you $600 so they can get the R&D spend back.

With a standard car and a jwt the car will actually run more efficiently but won't be noticibly faster as it's the jets supplied that you ram up the wastegates resticting the flow of waste gases and hence upping the boost that delivers the extra power.

The JWT will get rid of the 115mph restriction as this was not part of their new code.

So in summary if you intend to play with upgrades in the future but want the restriction removed then the cheapest option is to fit the JWT chip and put the boost jets your tool box until your ready.

Bet you won't though as the addition of the jets is like sticking a rocket up the exhaust pipe!
