got a series 2 with the centre panel that lights up and sometimes its on other times it flickers then goes off sometimes dosent come on at all , where can i look to find fault?? i take it that its a led not a bulb??

Thats not standard on a series 2 (at least im 99% sure its not), so looks like somebody did a conversion.

The wires to it would either be linked up to your rear light wiring or liscence plate light, so I would check there for a bad connection.

Failing that your inverter is knacked!!

But let me go through how and what is there, just so that you can understand the process, and might help you find the fault easier.

The light is emited from an Electroluminescent Panel. This is, basically, two thin sheets, one is a positive and the other is a negative, they are then sandwiched together and have an electrical contact around the edge, again one + one -. These are for connecting of the power, in this case 110v AC. This 110v is supplied by a unit called an 'inverter' (it's actually an inverter/transformer). 12vDC is fed in, and 110vAC is produced out.

This 12vDC can be found from either the number plate lamp circuit (as mentioned above) or the Tail lamp circuit (not recomended, due to the 'Bulb-Out' circuit), I would recomend fuseing this part of the circuit.

Anyway, don't want to 'Teach Granny To Suck Eggs', but I hope that helps.

I think it is fooked. Tell you what, I think all you can do is give it to me...honest...straight up!!!!!
