hi,

just seen an upgrade for the ECU on ebay which gives extra 60bhp, and delimits.

for 75 quid it seems good value but i'm wondering have any of you guys fitted this type of thing. the guy says he's a zx owner himself so quite possibly a member.

If anyone has had this done i'd be interested in the long term effects it might have on the engine and gearbox, ...............sounds very tempting..................funny, i started with an n/a which was fast enough for me, but since i've got this tt the bloody thing keeps talking to me

("go on, make me even faster")

sorry i dont have a link , havn't a clue how to do it!

ok for starters you wont get any more power with an upgraded ECU you need to install either boost jeta or controller for an increase in power, all a new chip will do is increase the fueling/timing to allow the engine to run more power safely, yes it will remove the limiter in most cases also the rev limiter maybe slighty increased,IMO stay well clear of ebay chips,id stick with a member of here, john dixon can sort you a decent chip, same as chris@getgreddy or danny@ DTA

Had a mines ecu chip in mine, with 1mm boost jets.

12.5 psi... a nice safe level to run ;)

Remember... only optimax once it's chipped!

cheers, will take advice on board. and i presume optimax is a top quality oil?!

Definatly stick to an ECU upgrade by one of the zed specialist traders, that one on ebay is'nt any cheaper anyway. Too much risk in going for a ebay job.

Optimax is Shell 98 Ron fuel...its the only fuel I would ever use in the zed....to prevent any risk of detonation...and running higher boost demands higher octane fuel.

Jap Imports are mapped for higher octane fuel (they have 100 octane fuel available over there and the cars are mapped to use that fuel)...Super unleaded is the minumum even a stock Import TT should be using, but I've only ever used it as a stop-gap between Shell garages.

Uk cars can get away without Optimax on a stock setup, but its beneficial to use it anyway.

you'll also notice improved mpg running optimax, which more than makes up for the extra cost.
