any of you guys have policy that dsnt require the car to be kept on a drive or in a garage? if so, who with?

Do you have a relative (mum, dad, brother, uncle etc etc) with a garage or drive?

 

I just took out a policy with firebond (classic policy on a 10yr old car?!?!?!) and had lengthy conversations with them about the terms and conditions of the garaged bits and the access to another car stuff....

 

Garaged,

told them the car would be kept garaged at my mums house (in a nice area with no crime) 4-5 nights a week but WOULD be at my house on the street or elsewhere 2-3 nights a week, not a problem, absolutely fine sir....

 

Access to another car,

I drive my mums car from time to time and borrow mates cars occasionally too, not a problem sir thats good enough for us...

 

so there you go, it would appear that the garaged and access to another car is a complete crock.... just tell em its garaged at your grans house. :D

 

the only way I can see this ever being a problem is if I make 4 or 5 claims on consecutive days when the car is outside my house on the street!! not exactly likely...

Exactly what i thought, i told them i don't have a garage or drive and he asked me if there was anywhere that i could keep it. Didnt know they were happy to have it kept there only part of the time. Better ring my aunt... :dance:

 

Has anyone else had a problem getting a quote from Houghton's i have rang 3 times in a week, each time they took the details and said they would call me back later that day. Each time I have waited two days and rang them back myself to be told they can't find any details on the computer! :mad:

I took out a policy with them about 6 weeks ago, was quite happy with the price etc but did have a similar problem getting the price off them, thy told me the computer was down, then got my proposal through to sign only to find it was someone elses! only took 1 fone call to sort it though, still seems to be the best quote by far, try and make sure you speak to the same person every time, this seems to help, I dealt with a guy called ken (i think)

yep had same experince, but they ring you back in the end,, im happy with my deal , 44 a month full comp,deposit, 103,,im 33 , first time zed owner,, , first time with houghtons .all mods declared.
