OK, well mine arrived today in the post, quite quick I thought considering I orded it outside office hours on Wednesday evening.

I've installed it in the Zed, but won't be testing it untill Sunday, as my trip to work tomorrow morning, and then the drive over to Karens tomorrow night, doesn't pass any known speed cameras. So we'll see on Sunday morning when we go to the meet in Peter'boro.

They would have sold the required number by then mate. Go for a drive now and let us know :-)

Cool, You lead the convoy to Peterboro then Dave :D

Dave, I'm interested in getting one of these. How big is the unit and does it have to be placed in a certain area of the windscreen? Could it be mounted into a backless pod to make it more discreet or does it have to be suction cupped to the glass. With the work I'm going to do on the interior I'm a bit concerned it's going to look a bit of an eyesore in there. What do you reckon mate? Bloody good price though!

No there,s still some left. rung up yesterday to order 1 :nana2:

good find dave  u also get some pointer's on how to get off speeding tickets if you fill in the form on the web site  not that you should anyway after gettin one

Right chaps, I've just been for a drive ;)..................

But I'll answer Leigh first................... As long as the unit is horizontal, and has got an unhindered view through the screen (ie; out of the view of the wipers and arms) then I see no reason as to why you couldn't do that. As for size, it's about 4 1/2" wide by 3" deep, by about 1" high.

Now for the analysis...................................

We have three types of speed catching divises in Grantham, the standard Gatso (catches you from behind), the forward facing type (don't know the name, infrared type), and then just those new warning boards that display the speed of the road you are on when you have exceeded it (if you know what I mean?).

The Gatso..... I approached it from the other side of the road....... NO warning at all!!

So I turned round and tried from the other way (normal direction)...... NO warning again!!

I did this twice more and still no warning.

The Infrared type (forward facing)............ I just approaced two of these from the normal direction.......... and I still got NO warning at all!!

So driving back into town I remembered that there are about five of these speed board types, so as I came near the first one of these, the audible and visual warnings went off as they should!! :D

No I'm not saying that the unit isnt working properly, or that it didn't pick them up, as I will be reading the manual again just to check that I am using it properly. Afterall there is a 30 day money back guarantee with this product, so i will continue to test the unti out.

Incidentley, the Gatso was in town, and Infrareds were on the A1, and the speed boards are again in town, so it was over different conditions, and, if it makes any difference (which it shouldn't), it was raining!

Anyway I'll report back when I've given it a bit more testing.

Cheers Dave .. I appreciate you going out and about to test it mate.

Keep us posted with your findings bud.

Thanks,

Chris P

What a load of CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's going back DON'T bother with this unit.

But I've just come across the Snooper S3 for only £130 (+delivery), so once I've sorted out getting my money back on this, then I'll order a Snooper and see how that one works. It's GPS, with 360 deg laser protection, more info here

PS- Thanks to Scubie for the additional results.

mines off back tomoz. it was going off while car was in the garage pointing at a fookin big hill, no camera's or police up there,

Jesus...really sorry to hear you guys ended up with a lemon of a unit and have to go through the hassle of sending it back :( Thanks for posting your test results, you've saved me forking out for something that clearly isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Well Karen threatened to chuck it out of the window on the way home yesterday :D I had it on on the way to work this morning and on the way home this afternoon, and I've had enough of it aswell.

I've phoned them to sort out returning it, but only got through to an answering machine, so I'm waiting for them to return my call

careful m8, the s3 only has all round protection if you buy the laser add on

so makes it a bit more expensive, it IS worth paying the extra

you really do get what you pay for, and not seen any of the cheaper ones that are worth the cash,

have a look through some of these, it makes it clear what does what

Thanksfor the info, but if you check the site, it tells you that the add-on is for a radar detector. The S3 comes with a 360deg laser detecor built-in on top of the unit. So it will catch everything(if you keep it upto date via the web) apart from mobile radar traps.

Still not heard from the makers of the BTST one yet.

I Have Just Ordered An S3 Off Of The Snooper Websit I Need One As I Have Now Accumilated 9 Points Doh!!! I Got My Last 3 On The First Night I Got My Z....(that Wiped The Grin Off Of My Face)

This Is Now A Must Have Rather Than A Want I Will Post My Findings When It Arrives If Anybody Is Interested

The automatic door sensors at garages often set these off. They work on the same microwave frequency as some of the older speed detection devices.

The Gatso..... I approached it from the other side of the road....... NO warning at all!!

Don't forget that many Gatsos are just visual deterents and are not active. Very likely that this one was a dud

i lives in d out backs steve, we only just got water on tap out here, i bet the nearest auto door to me will be 10 miles away (no joke)

lol no need m8, ive been through quite a "few" units

the s3 on its own won't catch everything without the radar detector m8

ie it doesn't detect radar, this means that it won't warn you against temporary speed cameras (mini-gatso) and some police speed traps, that use a radar gun, like any gps system it will only detect those cameras on the database, and LASER not radar

but you have to decide what you need it for and what protection you require

AND the cost, im currently running about a grands worth of gear in mine

but still don't consider myself flameproof;)
