hi guys I'm getting vibration on my 92 uk zed manual during motorway driving, it seems to get stronger then weaker and repeat this, any ideas? doesnt sound like wheel balancing but will get them checked.

thanks

well it seems to come from all over really mostly i would say from the front end, if it was the wheel balancing would it be just a constant vibration and not cycle like (stronger and weaker)?

hello, fella i have a similar problem on mine but at 50 to55mph when car warmed up it seems to go i spoke to peter at nisstek he took it out to test he definately thinks its prop shaft he is currently working on a cheaper solution than replacing prop which he quoted big bucks ill keep you posted

Prop shaft centre bearing is a really common fault that most people get at some point. It's not a huge job to change and the part isn't too expensive.

Tends to cause a resonating vibration that comes and goes at a certain speed.

yes that sounds like it, does anyone know of a good zed mechanic in the south west?

had mine done at nissan a few weeks back £275 fitted and including labour vibration gone its a dream to drive it now.

ok thanks mate will give them a call tomorrow

If anyone needs a replacement prop I have one, about a year old and as good as you like (see for sale items) from a TT auto.

Could save you a few quid. :hyper:

Ztech (near Swindon/newbury, see traders forum) - Supply and Fit Prop support bearing - £210

I seem to be recommending Ztech a lot this week, ..ryan where is my commision !lol

ok thanks, will see how much nissan quote then see if I can shop around, as for putting it on myself...guns I can work with, but cars are not my speciality :)

had a vibration on my zed when i bought it from the garage two years ago. was told it was "uneven tyre wear"! (i know im an idiot) turned out to be the prop shaft bearing. this is extremely common on these to fail. had mine done by zedworld costing about £280ish (highly recomend them!)

I'd say it was front wheel balancing. The reason it comes and goes is when the wheels are in phase and then they gradually get out of phase as you take a curve or corner and one wheel gets half a turn away from the other.

You have to get them balanced by someone who knows what they are doing. Mine were like this two years with several goes at balancing and no cure till I tried another company for balancing and asked for zero balancing - no more vibes. Otherwise they settle for maybe 20 grams out of balance and a zed is sensitive to even that.

This is specially true on big and wide wheels

the vibration happens when im on a straight road, i.e motorway

well took the zed to get wheels balanced turned out that i had import snow tyres on the front one of which was warped, wiht a slight buckle in the wheel, also the balancing was out, had a quick look at the prop shaft centre bearing but said it seemed ok, so fingers crossed

Lee,

definately get the FRONT wheels balanced....

Steve

I have mate, had them all done inc 4 wheel alignment, thats how he noticed the warped front wheel which prob explains the vibration :)

said rest of the car is in mint condition so happy days :hyper:

thats a bugger. still there are a few people with spare bits, sure someone will have a wheel...

you're happy with it then I take it?

S

yes mate well happy with it, its a joy to drive, the wheel isnt a big thing there are always parts about, going to be spending some money on it now doing things to the interior and maybe front bumper upgrade, hows your new car?

Glad you're happy with it. I liked it, but couldnt really justify the money it was costing me, (1200 miles in 5 months and £1200+ spent on it!!)

New car is going well, At least now, I can go round corners in the wet fast!! (Front wheel drive)

I'm looking to take the ST200 on a track day at brands hatch shortly, They have evening open pit lane sessions for £99... that'll be fun

I wondered about that gap at the bottom of the bumper a while ago, I thought it was missing something, but looked back at pics of when I bought it, and it was the same. I dont THINK anything goes there

S

lol I asked advice on here and think standard bumpers didnt have mesh on them but you can fit it.

I'm looking to fit a 99 spec in the not to distant future so not too bothered
