I swap the coils and ...

Still the loud sound (like hitting hard metal/wood) exist at the same place.

The problem its in the middle cylinder at the passenger site. When remove the coil connector the sound dissappears.

After swapping the coils the sound was still there. I remove the coil connector of the middle connector again (even after swapping) and the loud dissappears which means that its not the coil.

I have also found the spark plug of the middle coil loose which made me think that this is the problem. But after fixing it the ticking sound was still there.

I am soo down. frown.gif

Ok fella, only 3 things i can think off, you've tried coils so thats 1, now 2 remove same coil AND spark plug together and swap with another, still faultin same place ? then 3look at the fuel injector connections at the problem area, remove and clean both ends of connections and refit, this has to be it, had similar long time ago and it was the injector connections, good luck, smithy

I bought the car 3 days ago. And it has been serviced 1 week ago. Spark plugs are new.

If it's been serviced with new plugs, all the more reason to check the remaining 2 points as listed, chances are something ain't quite right with what's been done, that plug was loose, so that says sumthin, smithy

I try to remove the spark plug but I cant get it out. I can get it loose but not out.

-------------------

I check the engine oil when I bought the car 3 days ago and it was full. Now its still full.

-------------------

Also when I start the car this morning there was white smoke (not much) but it was there.

-------------------

My biggest concern is that what if the problem is the piston/rings and needs recondition.

Sounds interetsing. Why can't you get the plug out??? What is stopping it? New plugs doesn't mean that one still can't be faulty wink.gif If the plug has been dropped while it was in its box...... wink.gif I think you should try to get that plug out and swap it with another until you go any further...

CheerZ,

Andy

White smoke could be condensation, but if you can't get plug out, maybe the garage couln't either, if he had, there would be copper grease on it and would come out VERY easy, if it's just stuck at a certain point, plusgas sprayed around plug and free it, but you nust get it out and swapped, what make?model of plugs were fitted, check this 1 and 1 other to see, smithy

I have checked the plug with a MAC light and it looks brand new.

I have tryed so hard and I cant get it out. Its very loose, I can move it with a screwdriver, but Now Way to get it out. Damn.

Another think is that...If it was the piston then the performance of the car would go down as well..Right..????

But the car feels so fast. I dont want to drive it round though because I am afraid that I will do much more damage to it.

This 300zx turns out to be my greatest nightmare. frown.gif

am I not right in saying if he had a problem with his piston rings he would be seeing blue smoke?

I think you would see blue smoke if psiston/piston ring failed..ie..oil burning..

Does the white smoke disappear when car reaches normal running temp?

Are water levels ok?

Hope it all turns out for the best

Basically that plug has GOTTA come out and be swapped!!! Before you've done that you are thrashing around in the dark really! Why can't you get it out? Is it because you simply can't pick it out of the hole or is it not unscrewing properly???

CheerZ,

Andy

I agree with Andy the plug should come out, and maybe just some grit or stuff on the thread. If it's loose and in the hole but you can't pick it out just put some blu tack in the end of your spark plug tool.. then push and pull. Should come out easy as pie.

What's probably happened is the plug wasn't tightened up properly, simply inspect the plug for any damage (particularly the threads), make sure it's ok, put some copper grease on it, put it back in and tighten it. I had a loose plug on an ole CA18DET once, thought I'd popped a piston.. but tightened it up and it was sorted.
