Me again

I'm in the process of reconditioning my Z- about to have my engine and tubs swapped, and i'm trying to find out what other things I should have done whilst its out of the car (i.e. which other jobs require an engine-out). I know EGR removal pretty much requires it and so does swapping the tubs, but does anyone know what other stuff can be done whilst its out of the car?

Im planning on changing pumps, altenator, PTU etc. in the future anyway so if any of them need engine-out I'd really appreciate info.

Thanks in advance

I think you got the right idea bud, EGR Removal a must and for god sake get a new det sensor for the new engine!! Northing worse than putting a new engine in a getting a code 34!! (Learnt that the hard way!) apart from that PTU, TPS, alternator can all be done with the engine in!! I'm to tired to think of anything else at the mo but will let you know if I come up with anything!

any rubber coolant hose you can find, especially the ones down the back between the block and bulkhead, and the turbo coolant hoses.mine keep bursting, and i would love the opportunity to change them all in a oner,

it would save the scin on the back of your hand for sure!

deffo the det sensor and maybe a harness of your old one looks rough

True- can't seem to go near the car without losing skin from hands/arms

Thanks for the info guys

I'd do the power steering pipes whilst it's out. I didn't because they were OK at the time but it sprung a leak soon afterwards! I'd also fit a better set of engine mounts, I've removed 2 engines now and 3 out of 4 mounts we're completely severed. Oil seals are probably on your cards already but I swapped the rear crank oil seal when I fitted the RPS clutch just in case!

Good luck

Dave
