Similar to a post earlier, When my car is in Power mode, it works fine, if I put my foot down when power is off, I hear the click of the pedal but no light comes on. I just turned the ignition on before to get the lights going (Not the engie on) and pressed the pedal fully, a click, but no light, should there be a light at this point?

Also, sometimes when I put the car in gear (Autobox obviously) I hear a short squeal, kinda like air being forces out of the neck of a balloon. Doesnt happen all the time, any ideas? its a rebuilt, shift kitted auto.

 

Also, a couple of little things have literally fallen out of the button part of my t-tops. They look like a little disc about 5mm across with a small pike out either side, kinda like a thumbtack with a point end on both sides, any idea what these are? had about 3 fall out so far!

 

Is yours a Jap spec?? My UK Z doesn't light up the" power" light when kicking down with power mode off. As far as I know, the power light only comes on when the power mode is selected. As long as your car accelerates fast in kick down what are you worried about???

 

The squeals is from one of your belts (air con., fan or power steering) being loose. Just get them re-tensioned.

 

As to the falling "thunbtack" I don't know. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow (it's too dark now) and will get back to you if I can figure it out m8.

My power mode light on my 91 import doesnt come on sometimes when I slam my foot to the floor, but it will still change down the same as if power mode was selected manually. But if I'm driving for approx 20 min's and then slam my foot on the accelerator then the power light lights up.

I seem to remember "SeedyRom" in the states having autobox issues that were solved by driving the car very hard so that the autobox learned the way it was being driven.

I've been driving around lately with Overdrive off and some times in second (which is good for about 70Mph but a bit noisy) and power mode lights up a bit more know once warmed up.

Have you done the autobox diag?

 

Re: the small round things from the targa tops, mine fell out a couple of years ago and have no probs. After having a look at the exploded diagram in the manual I can see where they came from.

 

When you put your car in gear where does the "squeal" noise come from?
