sure baggins in the trader's sec does this for £450, that include's cam belt & tentioner's water pump and cam seals. well adviced to do all the later at the same time as the belt has to come off to get them.

sounds a bit expensive to me for fitting a few belts.!!!or is that cheap?........i could do with replacing the cam belts, is it alot cheaper to just get the cam belts done?

im half way through changing my water pump - and seeing the work that goes into cam belt stuff, £450 is a great price!

cambelt!

cambelt tensioner!

belts!

water hosesx2!

gaskets!

thermostat!

The work involved in doing the cam belt, is tremendous (spelling), or at least it was for me, when I did mine back in the xmas holiday. There is a link on twinturbo.net that takes you through it step by step, but it's wise to know a little of what your doing before you even attempt it. So to be honest, £450 for a good mechanic like Ryan is is a damn good price, at least you know it's all going to work properly in the end :D (and yes all mine did work properly ;) )

Thats the Full 60k service, which should be done at same time as changing the cambelt. It would be a big mistake to only change the cambelt and leave everything else not done.

thanks to all

im in aberystwyth in west wales mate

i havent actually got a zed yet , ive been looking at a few and all the ones ive seen are due the belt change , and so i was wondering , how much !! and as it turns out , its what i was expecting , considering the size of the engine !!

Welcome to the forum Jon

£450 for the full 60k belt service is very cheap mate, Nissan charge around £1000

The ZX is a well put together car and so much is squeezed into a small space that most jobs run into £££££s for the labour charges.

As for the other items (water pump etc) believe me, get them done at the same time as the belts. It is much easier whilst the front of the engine is removed because if you dont, the water pump WILL pack up and leak between 60-70K miles and you'll have to pay for all that labour again. Plus the belt tensioner is one of the most expensive ever at around £200 from Nissan.

I don't mean to be funny, but if your motoring budget is limited don't buy a ZX. They are essentially reliable cars but have a healthy appetite for fuel and tyres, also when they do go wrong you need deep pockets........

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
