was bloody wet here yesterday when I was driving and Im pretty certain I managed to get my MAF a bit soggy, had rough running/hesitation over 3k revs, jerky acceleration when it did decide to go over 3k that kind of stuff...

seems fine today in the dry so Im assuming it was the water... question is what can be done to stop it other than not driving in the wet!! :D Its a real pain when you're stuck behind a 4x4 on the m-way kicking up gallons of spray and you know its all getting sucked stright into your filter! :(

anybody come up with some fancy "weather shield" ideas?

i get that problem too. it would be kind of difficult to deflect the water and not restrict the benefits of the free gained by the filter. i think in this case if its really a problem, the standard air box would be the best bet.

I have an induction kit behind my 90 spec bumper, which seems to a splash guard, ill try and take some pics and maybe you could fabricate yourself something similar for your car mate.

my 1990 stock bumper even has a splash guard attatched to it, never had a problem

I used to get this. The problem is the rubber seal between the center panel and the bumper, it goes dry and cant make a good seal. Either get a new one or do as I did and put some liquid gasket between them for a tempary fix.

When I installed my 99 spec bumper, I also transfered over the small splash sheild from my old 92 spec one, it seems to do the job very nicely. Have a word with some of the traders on here regarding obtaining one, it'll bolt straight in.

Was getting the same problem , i,ve got 99 front and an Apexi , only occured after fitting a twin vent nose panel , but i dont think the vent holes were the problem it was leaking between the nose panel and bumper while the car was parked up, it would drip straight on the filter :headvswal made a shield to protect the top of the filter , problem solved  BTW never had a problem of excess water getting into the filter when driving .
