1)what is the main purpose of the fan shroud , i assume its to cirulate the air round the engine bay and the should keeps it directioned towards the block, but does it really make that much dirrerence , id have thought with the bonnet shut it does the same thing pretty much. but advise needed pls

2) a mate has said that if i get a different fan, same size but with more blades it will improve the cooling , is this right??

1,to make sure you pull air through the rads, not from the engine bay-also stops you sticking your dabs in the fan when running!!!

2,Ask your mate where to get one!

I ran mine with no shroud and original rad with no probs-now got a Koyo and no shroud-runs a few degrees cooler.

HTH.

cool , i too have a koyo now and deciding whether to put the shroud back on or not??

Totally your decision bud! :)

1. so you dont get your fingers cut off ( and to help direct the fan so heat is blown away from it)

2. complete bo11ox. If a plane has 100 blades on its propellor does it fly faster?...no.

Too many blades will not work as when the blade rotates it causes a depression behind (like a vaccum) so if there aint no air there it cant blow it through...

To improve the cooling a bigger rad (surface area) or /and more cool air flow is the answer.

Junk your air con and get rid of the massive air con rad which sits in front of the cooling rad (move the oil cooler too)

Thermostat and pressure cap too....
