oil pressure ?

I am thinking of buying a 300zx and took an imported no turbo out for a spin today and liked the little beast ! (i aint a fast driver so the turbo thing dont bother me too much) so, to the burning qustion............ oil pressure and what should it say on the needle on the clock when the car is on idle ? and also at about 4000 rpm ?.

As the one i took for a spin was just showing past the first mark on tickover and just over the second mark at 4000 rpm, its a 1991 fairlady with 90000miles on the clock.

It dont seem right that the gauge should read that low but i realy dont know ?.

Hello Delboy

If the stock oil pressure gauge in that Zs right its one of the very few that is! Ive had my n/a for a good while and the oil pressure has read different every time I get in the mofo car. :headvswal

However still maybe best to get someone to give it the onceover before you part with your hard earned. ;)

Thanks Steve, its only the oil pressure that has me worried realy all the rest is do-able.

Normally it's just the sender unit - they are always going wrong on the ZX. They cost about £85 for a new one from Nissan too so some people have fitted aftermarket guages for much less £££.

I like the OEM look so bought a new sender 2 years ago - it still works.........

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thank you Richard, it looks like the stock unit there isnt any rattles or knocks when the motor is first fired up from cold so nothing realy to worry me but that dam gauge reading low (it just plays tricks with your mind when you are thinking about buying a 2nd hand car i suppose).

Will take Steves advice and get somone round to give it the once over for peace of mind.
