Ive been looking into this with a load of "vacuum deposition" chroming companies, there are a few that are quite interested ive found but all have said they would need to see one to see how hard it would be to do it and cost accordingly...

I know theres a place on here doing it for 100+vat im trying to get the price down on this. One company mentioned about 100 maybe lower if bulk...

Question is..has anyone got an old sh*tty one lying about that could be sent to one of these companies for their quote? Theres one/two for sale on here but i was hoping for an old one in case they damage it. (Im not trying to get freebie light inserts honest!)

I may be off the mark but i am assuming people are still interested in this or did most peeps get it done when Cos was sorting it?

Cheers,

Rob

Hi Rob - lol,

The funny thing is that I know exactly what the company are going to say to you. Unless the preparation finish is any good, the vacuum metalizing finish won't be any good. Hence, first you will have to get the inserts primered and smoothed down to 2000 W&D and the vacuum metalized.

The only other way is to get them mass produced from scratch from an ABS plastic moulding company which is what I am also looking at doing now. I may just go ahead and have 100 pairs produced.

You mean mass produced already chromed? I thought the prototyping of doing that sort of thing is very expensive? Or wont it be because you already have effectively one and all they need to do is copy it?
