My old alarm has packed in so looking to replace it with one of the following:

Clifford concept 650

Autowatch TE Line

 

What has everyone else got? Ideally would like one that could be armed with the targas off.

I think ideally yes. I have however left my car with the targas off a fair amount and the alarm has only ended up going off a couple of times.

Recently had a toad fited with microwave sensors, top stuff, can be adjusted too.

Alot of people seem to dislike the Clifford but I had the G5 650 fitted over a year ago with no problems and I am very happy with it. I went round a few local company and was offered Toad Clifford and a few others, mostly the same price and spec but I paid particular attention to who was fitting it and how good his work seemed and this was the deciding factor in which I chose and I believe I made the right choice, no false alarms and microwave sensors for when the roof is off.

I've got the Toad and it goes off all the time with the Targa's off but it's good for drawing attention when parked up lol kinda defeats the object though

You not pressing the right buttons you can turn the ultrasonics off;)

I was told that if i get the toad fitted with microwave sensors then it wouldnt be Cat 1 anymore as when it was presented to Thatcham for testing it had ultrasonics? Sounds good if u can just turn off the ultrasonics if targa is off. I presume that the alarm would then be triggered if somebody opened a door then?

I'd go toad having seen them installed on a lot of freinds and families cars, mine came with a gemel, can't fault that either really

Correct, unless you have the Ultrasonics fitted aswell, plug them in and turn them right down and use the microwave :hyper: :hyper:

Arm the alarm as normal then within 3 secs press the arm button again, siren will chirp and your sonics will be off!!

My clifford goes off:

 

1. When it rains (but theres never any leaks inside???), and always at about 1am when neighbours just get their babies to bed

2. When its cold

3. When you wash it and move your hand over the front glass or down near the rhs mirror is when the car is armed (that was a test)

 

I love it as you can probably tell.

 

One thing i did love about my beemers, the alarms never misfired...
