I'm also having a problem with hoses - for the second time in a month I have had water p*ssing out of a hose somewhere at the back of the engine on the driver's side; looks like it's near the oil filter but I can't see right into the engine bay. It hits the engine and I get plumes of steam - looks like a fr*gging smokescreen from a spy film!! It's in the garage now being fixed.

Someone told me there is a thing called a baggins bypass ( hope he wasn't taking the micky - or maybe talking about a motorway somewhere) that replaces some of the pipes that go around the back of the engine and cool the turbos. Is this something you guys with more experience would recommend?

Thanks

Danny

FIY re: Samco - Although their name is well known in the aftermarket place, their trade reputation is questionable (this comes from my own experience and isn't a generalisation or viewpoint of this forum). They are bloody awful to get hold of (to place your order) and then don't have any hoses in stock for ages ... Plus they're very expensive.

I currently deal with a company who does the same colour silicone hoses as Samco but who makes them to order, ie no exorbitant waiting list. At the moment we can deliver the four Boost Pipes incl. stainless steel clips for around £160/£170 plus postage. Blue ones are in stock, Red, Black and Yellow available to order.

We are also looking into developing other Z-specific hoses in silicone, such as PVC hoses, water bypass hoses, idle valve hose, etc. These will be available shortly.

These items are new to DTA and have not (as yet) been added to our website. You heard it hear first! ;)

hi danny no one was taking the mickey baggins aka z-tech in the traders section can do you a bypass with all those water hoses surrounding the plenum and underneath ;)

a baggins-bypass !! Love the name LOL

Danny (TTs) it was me who called it the baggins bypass, i showed you the pipe he fitted instead of all the little ones that pop all the time :headvswal He did mine in Feb and have not had any more steaming and know feel alot more comfortable knowing it was done by a man who knows his stuff

You know it makes sense a one off payment of approx 250 rather then spending 100's each time it goes.

For many of the general hoses and vac lines, i usually carry around 300 metres of 4mm,6mm and 8mm hosing in the usual red or blue with other colours to order.

Silicone boost hoses are not a problem with a usual 10 day wait and at around 150 the set of 4 or Rad hoses if you like, though costing more, the ole stainless look better, will never suck in and have any type or amount of tee offs you want added.

Feel free to get intouch for owt yer need.

cheers

Thanks AntF, I thought it was you but couldn't be sure. The eejit who did the pipe the first time around just fitted another used one which makes no sense whatsoever . He is now going to put new ones on and we'll get the car back on Monday. I still want to replace the whole lot and will probably do the bypass soon but this should give me a bit of breathing space. The other TT is getting disheartened with the niggling problems so I dont want to recommend spending another £250 right now. She'll be much happier with the sun out and the panels off....... :hyper:

a baggins-bypass !! Love the name LOL

....you can understand why I thought it might be a p*ss take. Like sending the apprentice to get a left handed screwdriver or to ask the builders yard if he can have a long weight (wait). There is always someone ready to take advantage of the uninformed :D
