Following Tooley's invite for more on this subject????????? ........... here goes...

I have fitted brighter bulbs, but although much better the dipped lights are still not bright enough.

Looking at the Relays under the bonnet, there is one marked 'H/Lamp Dim', and guess what, if you look at Bob's CD-ROM there are a host of 'Dim Dip' circuits with a unit somewhere just behind one of the front wheels.

Is this the source of our main problem (I remember a number of UK cars in the late 80's were built to a MoTransport dimmer dip regulation, later revoked by the EU, I think)? Or is this nothing more than stopping an overload when using the headlight flash, or somesuch..?

Any electrical wizards? From the earlier posts it looks to be a problem with both Import and UK spec cars?

(Apologies to Tooley).

On most cars, the dim dip circuit is to light the dip beam bulbs dimly when the sidelights are on. This gives the sidelights a more diffused, bigger glow.

Presuming its the same on the Z, I'll try and find out when I eventually get one !
