I drve a N/A and i have used Optimax, Super unleaded and Unleaded and IMHO i couldnt really notice any difference between the apart from the price. When i put my foot to the floor my car shifts no matter which of the above fuels i use.   Maybe its just T/Ts which show a noticeable difference.

I think it's just the J-spec TTs or the highly tuned examples that show a real difference in performance over regular unleaded.

I drive a UK spec TT with just an induction kit mod and TBH the only difference I've noticed with Optimax is a few more MPG. Not a great deal more, just enough to match the extra cost of the fuel I reckon. Then the UK spec car was programmed for 95RON whereas the J-spec TT would be better on the higher octane stuff.

If I've ever had a dodgy batch of fuel though I have topped up with Optimax on the halfway mark and it does sort things out......

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Sayting that, performance upgrades/chips are generally quoted on 98 RON. (ie optimax)

Good reason to buy it is the bird who works there...?

I am sure it has been quoted that Optimax keeps the dreaded detonation at bay. My TT loves the stuff. It runs like a dog on Esso Super. Its just whether I can be bothered to cross right accross town for he good stuff.

Yup, I don't think you will ever really feel the diff, but it does help keep detonation away.

prolly cause you were detting :D :wack:

I did use 95 ron in my car a few times, when I got caught out and was low on petrol. Sometimes high grade fuel can be hard to come by in the sticks cant it!

Car always seemed to run fine, just on holding full boost for a while, occasionally I thought the car was detting.

That BP stuff tho, whatever that is (the high octane stuff) my car was lumpy and did not take kindly to it at all, no idea why  never bought it again tho!
