Hey all, just fitted an induction kit to the motor, but i got running problems

round town is fine but on the open road, when i boot it, it dont pull like it used to on the original airbox, and i get loadsa smoke out the rear(brown not blue thank god)

I'm presuming the ECU needed resetting, so i dis-connected the battery and gave it 30 mins, then took it out and I've just gto back from a 50 mile drive( miss's in a great mood lol)

Is this enough, or do i need to disconnect the ECU aswell as the battery to reset it and put it in 'learn' mode????

really daft question now: am a noob-hence........where is the ECU?????

is it under the footboard in the passenger foot-well?

cheers in advance cos this has got me miffed ;)

ok m8, can i do this by disconnecting the battery alone, or do i have to unplug the unit itself?

you're correct about where the ECU is ;) just pull the carpet up (should be velcro'd around the panel) then a couple or four screws and you're in. Regarding the intake, start with the simplest problem other than ECU - is everything tight?

yes mate, everthing was as tight as i could go without splitting rubber!! ;)

sounds like youve disturbed something, is your MAF connector in place?

If all else fails , put it back to stock and see if you still get the same prob.

Yes. just diconnect battery and leave. If unsure about amount of time then I'd just leave it overnight.

cheers guys, I'm at work all day tomorrow so I'll do it for the duration and see if that works, if not I'll put it back to stock on sunday and see if that cures it.

just a pain in the a~~e cos it cost me £60 and looks sweet

fingers crossed, if it still happens then I'll be back on here straight away!!!!

Thanks

some say half-hour to an hour is long enough to reset the ecu. couple of hours should be plenty.

which make induction kit is it mate?

lol, to be honest m8, i've had such a rough day that i cant bl##dy remember!!!

It wasnt a mainstream one as i couldnt be bothered to wait for delivery(v.impatient)

Basically it's a large 6" green mushroom filter with the large black mesh on the outside, and an adapter plate from a skyline that i had to re-drill. I know it sounds a bit rough, but it fits nice and tight and looks good.

Are these cr@p ones????
