I have a 92 j spec jap import Z and I have spent a fortune on wiper blades for it as no matter how expensive the blades are they always squeak, i have put anti traffic film remover on windscreen cleaned it several times and still when it rains and the wipers are on they squeak. Even got the wipers with spoilers on to keep them tight against screen, still crap.Has anybody else experienced this or is it just my Z??

try a little bit of washing up liquid on the blades.

are you sure its not the wiper arm itself, try some wd-40 on the joins

or even a bit of MEK to soften them up a bit.

oopppsss....forgot...that stuffs been banned..... :nelson:

Dont use it for long as it will dissolve your rubber blades :headvswal

This problem has been driving me mental for years, im glad someone has asked it. I Bought new blades just last week and went fine for a few days until i washed it in the local garage. then back to the usual squeak squeak. I wouldnt mind i sell glass for a living!

But i think ive copped it. the so called "wax" they use in some jetwashes is silicone based and leaves a film on your windscreen which aint too bad if you wash your car once a month or so. but the residue it leaves if you wash it every week never leaves the windscreen. i could be wrong but im gonna try the washingup liquid anyway.

a little washing up liquid in the washer bottle, if it squeaks give it a squirt and away goes the squeak

I heard from a friend in sxoc that applying 'rain x' to your windscreen will help water run off and also quieten wipers, i've yet to try this myself but at £4 a bottle it might be a quick fix.

Cheers guys you have been most helpfull, i am surprised how many people have had this problem.

its not like its a zed related problem, happens just as much on all cars, in fact I dont think the zed wipers have ever made a peep, but then I do keep it very clean all the time.

I use PIA silicon wipers, they're expensive but honestly they're worth it!

No squeaking or juddering, you can even use them on a dry screen and they're smooth as silk. About 30 quid I think.

I say scrap it, take a leaf out of wes' book - squeaky wipers is reason enough to break it tbh

and off comes you paint  good if you are a ricer and do it on the motorway, gives you them fast and furious style streaks when it eats the laquer off :p

I find brake fluid in the washer bottle does the job too

Or something like this;

should get rid of the grease / wax on the window a treat.

You could always remove the wipers, that would defo stop the squeeking, or opt for one of them nova style single wiper conversions that would mean only one wiper squeek so quiter and would save on the cost of blades too :smash:

Last time I had the squeaky wiper problem I simply coated the windscreen in 10w40 motor oil. It lubricates the windscreen so you never have wiper squeak again.

Last time I had the squeaky wiper problem I simply lubed up the windscreen with KY warming lotion. It lubricates the windscreen so you never have wiper squeak again.

Had this problem with my Z Turned out to be the shaft that the wiper arm bolts to..ITake off the wiper arm try the wipers and see if it still squeeks if it does its the shaft. Theres a rubber o ring inside the shaft that will need replacing you can get at it by taking off the wiper arm removing the rubber cap and prizing out the circlip youll see the o ring inside you should be able to prize it out and put a new one in with a litte bit of grease. This is a very common fault with nissans I' replaced the o ring on my primera twice in two years.Hope this helps
