Dont think they will repair it as the chip has caused a small swirl crack. I thnk its called rosed.

i had to get my windscreen replaced the moulding along the top of the windscreen doesnt come out properly,so it had to be ripped out and there is no replacement,so im going to get some black silicone and fil the gap neatly

the only + was new screen £200fitted and it was a blue blue uk windscreen better than that bronze j-spec one

for MOT purposes:

zone "A" is a 290mm wide band running the height of the swept area taken from the c/l of the steering wheels. a chip can be no larger than 10mm in this zone.

outside of Zone "A" but still in the swept area you can have a chip/crack upto 40mm.

outside of the swept area (of the wipers) is not failable regardless of size

Thanks Paul,

You can hardly see the chip actually and its right up high, almost right behind the mirror when you sit in the drivers seat.

I dont think its an MOT fail but to be honest I wouldnt put it past the MOT person I go to most of the time. He has a habbit of passing something one year and then failing it the next when its not changed.

Surely if it helps, a chip can grow, aided by the use of simple hand tools? :smash:

Oh Im sure it could ;)

Does windscreen claims effect your NCB. Ie, when they ask you if you made any claims will I have to list that?

Nope, its a seperate level of cover.

i have a small chip in my windscreen near the top on the driver side - wasnt a problem with the MOT... ... steering and tyres were tho

Had a small "rosey" on the screen of my Camaro.

Autoglass put an acid stuff in to clean it, then injected a resin in, under pressure to bond and stop the cracking.

Whole process took an hour (ish)

1 year and an mot later, still no problems !! :)

You could always see a wee blemish, but if its

up out the way, only you will see it.

Cost me abot £60 though ??

Alan.......

id get it fixed stu, otherwise it will get bigger and bigger they can fix them these days anyhow, and it doesnt affect your policy

Disagree here mate as a bloke at work did just that and come renewal, he was told he'd made a claim!!-could be down to different companies i suppose?
