Just a note too say that just over 50% of the cars we have seen in the last 2 months have had very little or zero coolant/antifreeze in them, not only does coolant/antifreeze do the obvious it also protects the coolant system from breaking down and the engine rusting from the inside out, the coolant system on these cars is just as important for the longevity of your engines as the oil system so please check your levels :hyper:

rant over :D

I'm going to be replacing my antifreeze/coolant next week, which is the best for the zed? I heard Nissan made one specially for the zed, any suggestions?

My brand new shiny manual says 10 ltr including reservoir and doesnt recomend any particular one it just says 'ethylene glycol base'

Hey Hey ive managed to answer a tech question!!!!

i heard it's also best to use distilled water. cost's a little more than tap water. but how much is a new engine

But dont forget to fully flush the whole of the radiator system every year or 2.

Coolent which is old actually goes off and starts working the opposite as it should, making the cooling less efficient.

10 litres...I did'nt think the whole cooling system carries that much liquid ?

I only put 3 litres in Mine, and the Little Halfords Coolant ratio checker tool said it was ok.....can anyone confirm quanities. Cant find the info using search.

take from the book it's self

with reservoir 10.0litre

reservoir 00.6litre

recommended anti freeze coolant, ethylene glycol base

total amount of liquid water+anti freeze

so 10 litres total.....so 4-5 litres of antifreeze recomended for a 40-50% mixture

yep......Ive answered another, very tired now, all this thnking is beginning to hurt!!

My S13 popped a water pipe off last week and the RAC bloke filled it up with water as they do. I haven't had time to change it for coolant mix yet but I've noticed the car takes much longer to get up to temp with loads of water in. I reckon the coolant that was in was v old like Mr SRRAE mentioned.
