Finally landed at Ztech, so started the strip down for inspection / rebuild.

Need to replaced the weak plastic chain guides, but otherwise looks OK.

Going to leave stock internals for now, replace all gaskets and seals and get it in and running.

Looks bullet proof, the bottom end is 4 bolt and cross-bolted with a huge girdle too. Very esay design to dry sump too

Only real problem was that several of the cam cap bolts rounded (they're torx) so took ages to get the cams off.

Cheers again to Ryan for the space

Gonna be a intresting project mate, best of luck with it and cant wait to see how it turns out

Fas

yep heard they can have a supercharger charger bolter on and hit HUGE bhp !!

There's no supercharger specifically made for the Q45 as yet although a custom unit has been produced. However there are a couple of guys in the States who are now working on a new unit alongside the creator of the original custom supercharger, Thomas Knight (http://www.boosthead.com/) which could prove interesting.

Although the Q45 engine loves boost, as John says, we're not doing it for the bhp ;)

Is this the same 4.5 V8 they put in the US & African spec Patrol. Cos I thought its just a high compression Version of that engine that they are puting in the Infinati QX 45 Skyline Sadan as the yanks say. If so then they do make a suoercharger kit for the Low compression engine.

I only now this because my eldest brother is supercharging his 4.5 V8 petrol Patrol. We are talking South African though.

Wasn't aware of any off the shelf bolt on chargers available for the VH45DE Mark. Would be interested to know more :)

Have been waiting on parts for a while.

I had bespoke pistons, rods and cams made which took ages as I had to do the specification and calcs first.

Biggest hold ups have been the gearbox to engine adaptor plate which is now complete pending some bolts arriving and new crank pulley (ali with toothed dry sump pump drive) which should be done in a week or so.

I'd expect it should start to some together pretty quick after that as all the other parts are waiting to go on.

The exhaust manifolds will take some time but Leon is all ready to go on them and the flanges are made up. Also have to get two 1" oil lines from the engine bay to the boot which will be awkward if I still allow for removing the subframe with them in place.

and i was contemplating putting a v8 in lol

Sweeeeeet as they say

Awesome, another burbling V8 to add to the club :D hehe

Make that 2 ;) :D

Less work/money if you go down my route ie uprated cams and less extreme headwork. But not that much lol! :D

This one's a screamer not a burbler I'm afraid. Should be good for 9k rpm.

Gotta do some vid recording of that running bud! :D

I can't wait to see the final result, this is gonna be one awesome machine!! Good luck with it all fella ;)

Not to sure to be honest.

If you stay wet sump / nissan ECU and intake it would be a lot cheaper but still probably £2.5k or so and you'd have a big bulge in the bonnet.

You'd at least want to do the cams as they're way too soft.

Also factor in manual conversion if you have a slushbox.
